On June 10, 1904, Lin Huiyin was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, which is known as the "paradise on earth". Among the famous talented women in the Republic of China period, Lin Huiyin's talent seems to be more comprehensive than Xiao Hong and Zhang Ailing, and her life experience is more fortunate. She not only joined the "Crescent Society" at the earliest, but also made great achievements in poetry, novels, essays, dramas, paintings, translations, etc., but also devoted herself to the profession of architecture, becoming the first female architect in China. She almost marks the color of an era, outstanding talent, the appearance of the city, and the emotional life is also like a spring fairy tale, happy and romantic.

Temperament like Lan's multi-talented girl

At the age of 16, Lin Huiyin traveled with his father to Europe, and in October, Xu Zhimo visited Lin Changmin, but unexpectedly met the beautiful and immortal girl Lin Huiyin, who immediately fell in love and began an almost crazy pursuit. Even for Lin Huiyin divorced his wife Zhang Youyi. Zhang Youyi immediately took her two children to Germany to study, and Xu Zhimo's father was angry and stopped the economic supply to Xu Zhimo.

In fact, before going abroad, Lin Changmin had already mated Lin Huiyin to Liang Sicheng, the son of his friend Liang Qichao, although they were only engaged, lin Changmin also respected the choice of his beloved daughter, but he still felt that he could not explain it later, so he wrote a letter to Xu Zhimo and then took his daughter away.

A year later, Xu Zhimo returned to China. What he saw was a more radiant Lin Huiyin, and his face was full of love, but he obviously felt that this love no longer belonged to him. Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng like architecture, and the two like-minded people often go to the Songpo Library and Kuaixue hall in Beihai Park to read and visit, often at this time, the amorous poet Xu Zhimo also quietly arrived, and the number of times was unpopular and aroused Liang's disgust.

In April 1924, Tagore was invited to visit China, Lin Huiyin served as an interpreter, and co-performed with Xu Zhimo in Tai Ong's poem "Zirad", which shocked the four seats with his beautiful appearance and smooth and beautiful English lines, causing a sensation.

The frequent contacts during Tagore's visit to China seemed to have ignited some hope for Xu Zhimo. On May 20, 1924, before Xu Zhimo accompanied Tai Weng to taiyuan on the train, he wrote an unfinished letter to Lin Huiyin. From the letter, I know that the two had a long conversation on the 17th, and Lin made it clear that it was impossible to combine, because next month she would go to the United States with Liang Sicheng to study.

In June 1924, Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng both went to the University of Pennsylvania to study. In March 1928, Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng married in Canada.

The goddess of treasure in the wilderness of the mountains

In August 1928, Lin Huiyin and his wife returned to China. In 1931, Lin Huiyin was hired by the Peking China Construction Society. In the following year, he designed the Geology Museum for Peking University and co-designed the gray house dormitory of Peking University Beach with Liang Sicheng. From this time on, she and her husband Liang Sicheng used modern scientific methods to study ancient Chinese architecture, becoming pioneers in this academic field, and later founded the Department of Architecture of Tsinghua University.

Lin Huiyin not only has the beauty and imagination of a poet, but also has the meticulousness and realistic spirit of a scientist. From the early 1930s to the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the couple visited 15 provinces and more than 200 counties in China to conduct archaeology and research, and surveyed more than 2,000 ancient architectural remains and early statue grottoes. Many national treasure-level ancient buildings buried in the wilderness began to go to the world, known to the world, and have been protected since then, such as the stone bridge in Zhaozhou, Hebei, the wooden pagoda in Yingxian County, Shanxi, etc. They also found one of the oldest wooden structures in China in Wutai Mountain, Shanxi - the Foguang Temple Hall built in the Tang Dynasty, this major discovery of this historical relics treasure broke the Japanese's assertion that it has long existed in China.

On the eve of the Japanese invasion of Peiping in 1937, Lin Huiyin and his wife took their mother and a pair of children, several suitcases, and two covers and rolls, and traveled to various places in the southwest of the "big rear" and successively lived in Changsha, Kunming and a small town on the Yangtze River, Lizhuang, Nanxi County, Sichuan Province, where they lived for 6 years.

The Japanese invasion of China brought too much suffering to the Chinese people, and also caused trauma to Lin Huiyin's family. As an architect, Lin Huiyin ran around to inspect ancient buildings in various places with a weak body and illness in the midst of artillery fire, and this kind of persistent spirit is rare.

Calm and sincere in the whirlpool of feelings

In 1931, the 35-year-old Xu Zhimo accidentally crashed on a plane. Lin Hui was very sad to hear it, and entrusted her husband Liang Sicheng and several friends to personally go to the scene of the crash to participate in the aftermath. Liang understood his wife's mood very well, and he brought back a piece of charred wood from the wreckage of the plane as a souvenir. This charred piece of wood was obviously used by Lin Huiyin as a symbol of life, and it was hung in the middle of the bedroom, and "Xu Zhimo" hung for 24 years until she died.

In the bitter days after Xu Zhimo's accident, there was a person who often chatted with Lin Huiyin and talked about literature and philosophy. This person is Jin Yuelin, who lives in their backyard, 9 years older than Lin Huiyin, who also studied at the University of Pennsylvania, the school where Lin studied in the early years, received a doctorate in political science from Columbia University, and returned to China in 1926 as a professor of philosophy at Tsinghua University. Over the years, he and Lin Huiyin and his wife have been very close, and once gave them a couplet: "Gentleman on the Beam, Beauty under the Forest". However, this "iron triangle" one day tilted.

In 1932, when Liang Sicheng returned from an inspection tour of Baodi, Lin Huiyin said with a sad face: "I am extremely distressed, because I am in love with two people at the same time, and I don't know what to do." Liang Sicheng was so shocked that he could not speak for half a day, but he still thanked his wife for her trust and confession to him. He thought about it all night, feeling inferior to old Kim, without his philosopher's mind. The next day, he said to Lin Huiyin: "You are free, if you choose Old Jin, I wish you eternal happiness!" "They were all crying. Lin Huiyin told Jin Yuelin this in its original form, but he did not expect that this logic professor chose to give up in the face of a good opportunity: "It seems that Sicheng really loves you." I can't hurt someone who truly loves you, I should quit. Since then, no one has ever mentioned this file again, and Old Jin is still a regular visitor to the Liang family.

Jin Yuelin buried his love for Lin Huiyin deep in his heart, and he never married, far from women. The family used male maids, and even raised a group of chickens that were roosters. He was childless and childless, and later it was Lin Huiyin's children who took care of his life and died of old age.

At 6:20 a.m. on April 1, 1955, Lin Hui, a talented woman, bid farewell to this world due to a long illness and completed her 51-year colorful life journey.
