The fashion trend of the car circle is actually similar to the fashion circle, and within a period of time, a certain technology or a certain design will often sweep the entire car market like a trend.
But whether these technologies and designs can really precipitate and be accepted by the majority of consumers depends on whether they really meet the pain points of car owners.
In fact, there are many so-called new technologies and new designs, which have finally proved to be just wishful thinking of car companies, and even after being deeply educated by the majority of car owners, they have then withdrawn from the historical stage. The most typical is the three-cylinder engine, from the major car companies to promote the three-cylinder, to now have changed back to the four-cylinder engine.
Although the three-cylinder has basically become a thing of the past, there are many similar technologies or designs forced by manufacturers, and today we will talk about it.
Minimalist interior
Tesla has a lot of groundbreaking designs in the field of electric vehicles, and the minimalist interior is one of them. Eliminate the dashboard and almost all physical buttons, and concentrate all functions on the central control screen. In the rest of the interior, the standard is that no design is the best design.
When this design style first came out, it was indeed very stunning, and it was refreshing for people who were used to traditional interior design. The design style fits well with Tesla's positioning as a technology pioneer and is full of futuristic feeling.
This design also profoundly influenced a number of models, and since then a large wave of domestic models have adopted this style in the interior, striving for simplicity and pursuing a sense of the future.
But between simplicity and simplicity, there is only a thin layer of window paper, and the minimalist interior, although futuristic at first glance, is very easy to aesthetically fatigue because there is no room for play and appreciation.
Therefore, at present, Tesla's minimalist interior has basically been abandoned on the new domestic car. The latest domestic electric vehicle interior has two distinctive design features, that is, the pursuit of technology and luxury.
The sense of technology is basically achieved by large screens, and the size of the screen is getting bigger and bigger, and the number of blocks is increasing. Luxury, on the other hand, is reflected in the workmanship, materials and sense of design.
Taking the extreme Krypton 001 as an example, although the standing central control screen occupies the center of the vision in the cabin like the Model 3, whether it is the layering of the design, the luxury of the materials, or the matching of different materials and colors, the Model 3 has been thrown out of several streets in terms of luxury.
In addition, if the interior of the extreme krypton 001 still has the shadow of Model 3, then the BYD seal, which is completely benchmarked against Model 3, completely abandons the minimalist style created by Tesla, and the entire center console design is not only not simple, but also full of complex curves, and the design of the air conditioning outlet is also unique. The choice of materials is also more textured, with large areas of leather covering, chrome door handles and air conditioning vents, and piano paint near the gear lever, all of which show that this car is striving for a sense of luxury.
If you think that domestic cars cannot represent all design directions, then the interior of Mercedes-Benz EQE also tells us that the minimalist design style belonging to Tesla is gradually being tired of consumers and abandoned by manufacturers, and luxury technology is the direction of today's electric vehicle interior design.
In fact, Tesla's interior has long ceased to represent the future, and in the eyes of many netizens, Tesla's interior has long become synonymous with "simple".
Buttonless design
With the rise of the large screen of the car machine, the physical buttons in the car are becoming fewer and fewer, and it seems that the physical buttons have become a thorn in the designer's eyes, a thorn in the flesh, and it is necessary to get rid of it quickly.
How did this trend come about, I think it has something to do with Tesla and Apple, when Tesla was first listed, Apple, known as the automotive circle, took the lead in integrating the button into the car machine. Invariably, Apple's most important design is also to cancel the dense physical buttons on the mobile phone, leaving only a screen, and we have entered the era of smartphones.
Because of the two guides of Apple and Tesla, domestic car companies have made great strides towards canceling the physical button, and it seems that only by completely eliminating the physical key can it be regarded as evolving into a smart car.
NIO ET7 interior
But on the car, all the design must first serve the needs of the user, if it is separated from the demand, designed for the design, that is to find trouble for consumers, to find trouble for consumers, then sales will naturally be affected.
The operation of canceling the physical button seems to be simplified, but it is only visually simplified, and the real operation will be more troublesome. Some simple and common functions can sometimes be found in the secondary menu.
Some people may say that many functions can be realized by voice control. Yes, some vehicles do a good job of voice control, but not all models are equipped with voice control, and not all models have voice control that is well optimized.
In addition, there are some scenarios that are not convenient to use voice control, such as someone in the car making a phone call, or someone sleeping, which is more suitable for manual operation.
Moreover, the Mandarin of many car owners is not necessarily standard, and the recognition of dialect by the vehicle system is currently uneven.
So that when car companies have canceled the physical buttons, car critics and netizens have retained the physical buttons for common functions as an advantage. Now, car companies have also noticed this, and have begun to try to retain some physical buttons, or on the interface of the car machine, by sliding left, or pulling down, etc., to achieve the design that you can find the most commonly used functions in one step to make up.
Advanced autonomous driving
If there are three major trends in the future of automobiles, they are electrification, intelligence and autonomous driving. At this stage, we are still too far from autonomous driving, so we can only have assisted driving. At present, the vast majority of assisted driving functions are still at the L2 level, and only at the L3 level can it be regarded as automatic driving.
The so-called high-level autonomous driving means that some road conditions have the ability to L3 automatic driving. But the crux of the matter is who is responsible for an accident in the vehicle in high-end assisted driving mode. According to our current law, the driver is still the first responsible person when assisted driving is turned on.
Last year, the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Regulations on the Administration of Intelligent Networked Vehicles were implemented, which is regarded as the first regulation in China to involve L3 assisted driving, which stipulates that if a traffic accident is caused by a quality defect of an intelligent networked vehicle, the driver can recover from the manufacturer and seller of the intelligent networked vehicle after bearing the liability for damages according to law.
In other words, when the Level 3 autonomous driving system is turned on, if the vehicle violates or has an accident, the first responsible person is always the driver.
Of course, after careful study, it is found that the object of the Regulations is the subject of road testing and demonstration applications, not ordinary private cars, but after the L3 level assisted driving is turned on, the unclear division of responsibility is at least a reality.
In addition, although high-end assisted driving is hot, it is not the real pain point of users, but only the icing on the cake. Except for some geek-type early adopters, few users really buy a car just for the assisted driving function.
Xpeng has always focused on assisted driving, but the performance of last year was not satisfactory, the sales of the main model Xpeng P7 fell significantly, and the sales of Xpeng G9 obviously did not meet expectations. On the contrary, the ideal L9 and L8, which are mainly labeled with home practicality, both exceeded expectations last year, and both achieved monthly sales of more than 10,000 at the end of the year.
Therefore, advanced assisted driving is not the main demand of users, at least for now, especially until the law allows Level 3 assisted driving on the road and clearly divides responsibilities.
We acknowledge that autonomous driving is the trend of the future, and we also affirm the investment of car companies in this regard, but we are opposed to loading the immature technology of the future into the current car in advance and making the owner take responsibility.
At the same time, consumers' eyes are also bright, and there are not many people who pay for the so-called advanced autonomous driving of car companies at this stage.
Write at the end
In the transition stage from traditional oil vehicles to new energy vehicles, it is also the explosive period of new technologies and new designs. That's when we're lucky, because new features and designs are constantly emerging.
But the more such a time, the more consumers must polish their eyes, because many functions and designs, under the publicity of manufacturers and media, seem to represent the future, but the actual use may be very chicken.
Although today's new cars increasingly need to create a sense of freshness, it is also hoped that car companies do not design for the sake of design, do not innovate for the sake of innovation. And consumers don't pay for so-called gimmicks, but spend money where they can really enhance the car experience.
