Wang Xiaobo said in "The Golden Age" that this is probably the most well-known passage in this novel.
"Golden Age" is actually the story of a couple of men and women stealing Q. One is a doctor who has gone to the countryside, one is a doctor who has been transferred to the hospital; one is twenty-one years old, and one is twenty-six years old: one is called Wang Er, and the other is called Chen Qingyang.
The two should have been two people in parallel time and space, never intersecting, but in the absurd years they achieved each other's golden age.

Life is a slow process of being hammered, people grow old day by day, luxury hopes disappear day by day, and finally become like a hammered cow.
The lives of Wang Er and Chen Qingyang in the novel are like this.
Wang Er, who was suffering from waist disease, was deliberately arranged by the captain to go to the field to plant seedlings, and the waist pain could not stand it, so he went to find the team doctor Chen Qingyang.
Chen Qingyang's husband went to prison, and he was sent to work as a team doctor because he flirted with her military representative in the hospital.
