After the Skull Island incident in 1973, the Imperial Organization has listed Kong and Skull Island as important research objects. They organized another expedition to Skull Island in 1995, in which the Imperial Order learned about Kong's origins and the origin of the island's giant ape skeletons (the manga Skull Island: The Birth of Kong).
In 2019, Godzilla defeated Ghidorah and was crowned King of titans (Godzilla: King of the Monsters). But before that, our stubborn Skull Island boy refused to accept the call of King Ghidorah (of course, even if he did, he could not leave Skull Island), and many of the remaining Skullcrawlers on the island also heard Ghidorah's call and went out of the ground to leave the island for North America.
In the King of the Monsters novel, the Skull Monitor Lizard is a Titan creature that can live underwater like Godzilla.
Out of his natural hatred for the Skull Dragon (who killed King Kong's parents), King Kong hunts down skull dragons that are constantly emerging from the ground with the help of the island's indigenous Iwe, and tries his best to prevent them from leaving Skull Island. Although most of the monitor lizards were killed by Kongo and the Ywe, a handful managed to escape Skull Island, and it is believed that the skull monitor lizards were later captured by Apex Technology and successfully copied on a large scale using cloning technology to become experimental objects to test the abilities of mechanical Godzilla.
But Ghidorah's Titan behemoths awakened in 2019 are much more than that, when a flying Titan creature with the shape of a bat, Camazotz, emerged from hollow Earth and came to the ground to attack humans. In Santiago, Camazoz was intercepted by the Air Force, so when the ORCA system was activated, it failed to reach Boston in time to quietly retreat back to Hollow Earth after King Ghidorah was defeated by Godzilla.
In 2021, Camazoz suddenly appeared on Skull Island, and with it came a large number of smaller flying creatures (the kind of hellhawks that appeared in GvK).
Kong, as the guardian of Skull Island, immediately broke out into a great battle with Cammazoz, who at one point knocked Kong to the ground and bit his fangs through King's neck and began sucking blood. Fortunately, the Imperial Order had already established an observation post on the island at that time, and if it were not for the naval fighter jets that attracted the attention of Kamazoz, I am afraid that King Kong would not have had the opportunity to participate in the duel with Godzilla later.
With the help of the Imperial Order, King Kong regained the upper hand, taking advantage of Camazoz's distraction to tear his jaw apart, and the badly injured Camazoz struggled to enter the tunnel and escape back to Hollow Earth to retrieve a life.
Although once again winning the challenge of other Titan behemoths, the Ywe suffered heavy losses in the attack of a large number of Hellhawks, many of whom were torn apart on the spot and turned into monster food during the battle, and the environment on the island changed dramatically, resulting in only a very small number of Ewic surviving. One of the girls who lost both parents was adopted by Irene Andrew, a scientist of the Imperial Order, and it was Gya, an Iwi girl who later appeared in GvK.
Since he was saved by the Imperial Organization, King Kong was slightly friendly to humans outside the Iwe, especially the military, but this did not mean that it would be at the mercy of humans. King Kong's hauntings and the deadly beasts that can be found everywhere on Skull Island have caused a lot of trouble for the Imperial Organization's research work, so the organization decided to build a quarantine facility on the island to simulate King Kong's living environment, that is, the biodome we see in the movie.
But building the dome was easy, but the hard part was how to safely transfer King Kong into it, and the Imperial Order found a solution from the events of 1973. At that time, Lieutenant Colonel Packard of the U.S. Army successfully stunned King Kong with an incendiary bomb, and at first people thought that the violent burning effect made him faint, but in fact, King Kong's body was far stronger than humans thought (this can be seen from the duel between King Kong and Godzilla), and the burning effect caused by the petrol bomb was not enough to pose a threat. In fact, at that time, gasoline combustion consumed a lot of oxygen, and the oxygen consumption of a body of king kong's size was naturally very amazing, so the real reason for its fainting was actually a temporary lack of oxygen.
Inspired by this, the imperial scientists developed a complete set of ways to subdue King Kong, gradually reducing the concentration of oxygen in the air around him to make him unconscious, and then using a helicopter to transfer it to the assembled biological dome for further study. Later, they developed a water-soluble odorless chemical mixture that can be injected directly into the veins of Kongo and carried throughout the body through its blood flow, and the muscle relaxants in it can play a hypnotic effect.
In the film, King Kong is transported to the South Pole, and the green syringe he wears around his neck is this chemical combination, which can also explain why King Kong is willing to stay in a barge at the mercy of humans, and the emotional bond between the little girl Jiya and it is probably only a secondary factor, and the large amount of chemical combination makes the giant beast lose its will to fight.
