"Our crabs are about half a month longer than hairy crabs in Yangcheng Lake. Because of the long growth cycle, the size is larger, the meat quality is fuller, delicious, and has a grassy aroma. Field manager Cai Jingjian introduced the characteristics of the hairy crab in clear water to reporters.
According to reports, from the button crab put into the pond in February this year to the growth into a finished crab, a total of 9 months of growth cycle. Compared with the density of about 1,000 crabs per mu of ordinary farming, there are only 400 crabs per mu of pond in Kaitai.
In addition, the pond at a depth of 1.5 to 2 meters is filled with bitter grass specially cultivated by kaitai fish to purify the water quality and bring the water quality up to the national class II-III water standard. The pond is deep, the grass is dense, the water is clear, and the hairy crabs living in the "low-density villa" have not been affected by the high temperature weather this summer, which not only greatly improves the survival rate, but also gains more development space.
In September, after the hairy crabs entered the critical period of growth, the Kaitai fish specially arranged a "fat house pond" for them: the bottom of the pond was spread with fine sand, allowing the crabs to crawl and grind white naturally, and simulating seawater with 6‰-7‰ brackish water. Since hairy crabs return to the estuary to mate and breed, in the brackish water environment, hairy crabs will accelerate their feeding. At this time, a large number of high-value feeds such as cooked corn, soybeans, and deep-sea fish are put in, and cooked food is kept to reduce the coldness of hairy crabs. The hairy crabs that grow into this way are "green back and white belly golden claws", with full meat and fat crab paste.
Not long ago, Kaitai fish Qingshui hairy crab was awarded the "Golden Crab Award" of the 2022 "Wang Baohe" Cup National River Crab Competition. Since 2014, Kaitai has won the award 8 times in a row. In addition, it also won the "Best Taste Award" of the 2019 "Wang Baohe" Cup National River Crab Competition.
"This year, the crab king is a male crab with more than 9 taels, and the female crab is the largest 6.8 taels." Cai Jie told reporters. The average female crab is 3 to 3.5 taels, and the male crab is 4 to 4.5 taels, and this year's output is 100,000 heads, a total of about 40,000 catties.
