Recently, nearly 20,000 mu of red dates in Xinzheng, Henan Province, ushered in the harvest period. This year, on the basis of the special picking tour, the local government has broadened its sales channels and helped jujube farmers increase their income.
Henan Xinzheng red jujube cultivation has a long history, fruit farmers mostly adopt the planting mode of grain and jujube intercropping, planting jujube on the top and peanuts, sweet potatoes and sesame seeds below. Due to the short harvest period of jujubes, centralized listing is prone to the problem of endless sales in the field, and if all are picked and harvested, they also need to bear the additional cost of storing and preserving freshness in the cold storage in the later stage. In this regard, the local government has vigorously developed the "Red Jujube Festival" and launched activities such as "Jujube on the Cloud", jujube tasting, and ordering, attracting tourists to pick sightseeing and order online, helping many jujube farmers solve the problem of selling dates.
After years of development, Xinzheng has formed a jujube industry integrating jujube planting, processing and cultural tourism, more than 70 kinds of jujube products and more than 20 jujube brands are well known to the public, and the jujube industry continues to grow bigger and better, allowing jujube farmers to increase their income and more.
