Big-flowered vetch, also known as three-toothed vetch, mountain vetch, hairy vetch, etc., leguminous vetch is a one- or two-year-old winding or creeping herbaceous plant, the plant height can be up to 50 cm.
But isn't it, the piece I saw was not more than half a meter high.
Even pinnate compound leaves, according to the data, it has 3-5 pairs of leaflets. But I counted its leaflets, and there were occasionally 6 pairs. For example, in the picture below, the closest leaf on the purple flower.
Its leaflets are oblong, linear-oblong or narrowly obovate, entire, glabrous on the surface, and sparsely hairy on the back.
What is more special is that the tip of the leaflet seems to have been cut by something, showing a truncated or slightly concave shape.
Its leaves have a more interesting place: at the top of the leaf axis, there are tendrils, some of which come down one by one, and some of which are bifurcated in the middle.
If they have something to cling to and climb, they will climb and entangle, and go to higher places. When there is nothing to rely on, feel at ease in a prostrate state, and never let go once there is a chance.

The stems of the large-flowered vetch look weaker, with ridges and more branches.
racemes, long in leaf axils. The length of the inflorescence is slightly longer than the leaf axis. Each inflorescence has 2-4 flowers.
Like other legumes, they are typically butterfly-shaped. The color of the flowers is purple or reddish-purple.
There is a peduncle, but the peduncle is very short, the calyx is bell-shaped, and there are some fine pubescence on it. The calyx is much longer than the peduncle.
Flowering period April-July.
I haven't seen the fruit, it is said to be an oblong pod, and I will take it in a few days.
Don't look at it as a weed now, but in ancient times, it was a famine-saving plant.
In the Book of Poetry, the wild vegetable "Wei" picked by the ancients is a plant of the genus Vetch in the legume family, including large nest vegetables (saving wild peas), small nest vegetables, wide distribution of wild peas, large flowers and wild peas, etc.
The big-flowered vetch, which is common in the north, is one of them. Seeing it "The Book of Songs" on the side, I suddenly felt mysterious.

The stems of the large-flowered vetch are thin and soft, and can be used as pasture.
Whether it's fresh grass or hay, it's still good. However, its overall grass yield is not high, and it belongs to the medium leguminous forage grass.
Leguminous plants contain nitrogen-fixing bacteria in their roots that fix nitrogen in the air. Therefore, its stems and leaves are rich in nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium and other nutrients needed by plants, which can be used to make green manure.
The tender stems, leaves, and fruits of the large-flowered vetch are edible. Many people analyze that in ancient times, people "picked roses", some picked fruits, and some pinched "topsy (tender tips)".
Most of the stems and leaves of the vetch genus can be used in medicine, and the large-flowered vetch also has certain medicinal value. After checking the information, it was found that the records in this area were rather chaotic, so I will not repeat them here.
Chinese herbal medicines have distinct regional characteristics and are more subtle.
Wild pea is widely distributed in mainland China, especially in North and Northeast China, and is more common. Its appearance is not bad, and the purple flowers bloom among the weeds, and there is a kind of beauty of weeds separation.
