The mosque covers an area of 10 hectares, surrounded by parks and green belts, and has a musical fountain in the square in front of the temple. Outside the main building there are four minarets 130 meters high. Inside the temple there is a huge dome with a diameter of 62 meters. The temple can accommodate about 30,000 people, the main male prayer hall can accommodate 12,000 people, the women's hall can accommodate 3,000 people, and the courtyard and other rooms can accommodate 12,000 people. In terms of size and volume, the mosque is not only the largest mosque in Kazakhstan, but also in Central Asia.
The mosque was built in 2019 on the advice of the first president, Nazarbayev, and lasted three years. Construction by Sembol Construction, Turkey. On August 12, 2022, the opening ceremony of the mosque, former President Nursultan Nazarbayev came to visit. Other key Kazakh officials were not present. This was previously unthinkable, but it is also particularly easy to understand in the current political climate.
