As a key project under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative between China and South Sudan, the Juba-Rumbek Highway Project, undertaken by Shandong High-Speed Group, is an important corridor connecting South Sudan's Central Equatorial State and Lake State. The project is divided into four sections, the first section of the Juba-Trikka road, which is about 63 kilometers long, has been completed and officially opened to traffic in June 2022, and the construction of the remaining three sections of the road is progressing in a coordinated manner.

The Juba-Rumbek Highway Project is a road upgrading project, with a total length of 392.7 kilometers and a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour, which improves road safety and flood prevention capacity, and plays an important role in improving the construction of South Sudan's national road network.
