Japanese photographer who can't lose to Kawashima Bird: Freeze-frame the "black history" of their daughters in an instant

author:milk or tea

Shin Noguchi, a 42-year-old Japanese street photographer, recently took a group of photographs called "One Two Three" to record the daily life of his three daughters in the most authentic state. When browsing this group of photos, what is more impressive than the beauty conveyed by the photos is the intimacy and bondage between the family.

Asked how he came up with this set of pictures, Shin Noguchi put it this way: My father was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer in 2014, which means that the tumor has spread to other parts of the body, and I lost my father in 2017. While I was sorting through my father's belongings, I found many photos of my childhood that had been kept by my mom, most of which I had never seen.

These photographs can be said to be the catalyst for the "One Two Three" photography series, in order to alleviate his mother's loneliness, he began to photograph his three daughters so that the mother could understand the recent situation of the granddaughters, which also enhanced the relationship between him and his daughters.

The series of photographs is like a family photo album that truly shows the daily life of the Shin Noguchi family, and if you look closely, you can even learn about the personality characteristics of the three daughters. The people in the photos may not be photogenic, and some even "ugly" the cute daughters, but they are the best documentary photography.

"They showed me such a beautiful moment that I couldn't help but pick up my camera and capture it, it was a gift they gave me," says Shin Noguchi. When asked whether the series of photographs should be classified as life or art, he said, "I think life is art, I never want to call my photographs art, but my daughters make me really feel the existence of art." 」

In addition to the daily life of his daughters, photographer Shin Noguchi also took many photos of his father as a souvenir and included them in the "Fathers with Lung Cancer" series.

In April 2014, my father came to visit us in Kamakura and I took this photo for my father. My father was 83 years old at the time, and the doctor diagnosed him with advanced lung cancer, but I hadn't told him the bad news. For the next 3 years, I would take pictures of my father at the first opportunity, and every time I pressed the shutter it was like sending him a silent message: "Please don't leave me, Dad..."

Shin Noguchi said, "This is the last photo I took for my father, and A few weeks later I received an emergency notification from the hospital at home, but when I arrived at the hospital, my father had already left."

As a street photographer, Shin Noguchi's main job is not to shoot portraits of people, but to capture everyday moments with the help of lenses. He believes that street photography can show the most realistic pictures, thus presenting a subtle and complex Japanese culture. Here are some of the photographic collections selected from Shin Noguchi's website.

When you hear the music melody

Listen to the last note

It disappears into the air

Unable to capture

This is a quote from photographer Shin Noguchi when introducing the "One Two Three" series, originally from American jazz musician Eric Dolphy. Life is like a musical note, which passes between the ticks of time, and the freeze-frame moment captured by the camera will become the best memory in life.
