After seeing this squad, I have a clear feeling in my mind: the lineup changes from the Tokyo 2021 Olympics are not very big. It can even be said that there are only 2 points: Wang Chuqin is singles, and Ma Long is missing; Xu Xin/Liu Shiwen missed.

Tokyo 2021 National Table Tennis Participants:

Men's Singles: Fan Zhendong, Ma Long;

Men's team: Fan Zhendong, Ma Long, Xu Xin, Wang Chuqin (P card);

Mixed doubles: Xu Xin/Liu Shiwen;

Women's Singles: Sun Yingsha, Chen Meng;

Women's group: Sun Yingsha, Chen Meng, Liu Shiwen, Wang Manyu (P card). In the end, the national table tennis used the P card, and Wang Manyu replaced Liu Shiwen to participate in the women's team competition.

It can be clearly seen from the changes in the list of the two Olympic Games that the renewal of the national table tennis is not obvious, and it can even be said that it is backward, especially compared with the change in the list of the Japanese team, it is even more obvious that the renewal of the national table tennis is "backward".

The Japan Table Tennis Association announced the list of participants for the Paris Olympics as early as April, which are:

Men's Singles: Tomokazu Zhangmoto, Hayasuke Togami;

Men's group: Tomokazu Zhangmoto, Hayasuke Togami, Shinozuka Daito;

Mixed Doubles: Tomokazu Haramoto/Hina Hayata;

Women's Singles: Hina Hayata, Miu Hirano;

Girl group: Hina Hayata, Miu Hirano, Miwa Zhangmoto.

At the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, Japan's entry list is:

Men's Singles: Tomokazu Zhangmoto, Takashi Niwa;

Men's team: Tomokazu Zhangmoto, Takashi Niwa, Hayabusa Mizutani;

As can be seen from the changes in the list, the rosters of the Japanese team for the Paris Olympics and the Tokyo Olympics are very different, except for Tomotoshi Zhang and Miu Hirano, no one else has participated in the Tokyo Olympics.

On the Chinese team's side, except for Wang Chuqin, not counting the players with P cards, the other 5 people have participated in the Tokyo Olympics, and the replacement is "backward". The reason why we need to put quotation marks around backwardness is because this backwardness is not all bad: first, the athletes of national table tennis, especially some older athletes, are in good condition; Second, it is more prominent that the national table tennis is fair in selecting participating athletes, and will not deliberately eliminate old players for the sake of upgrading.

Of course, behind the rapid renewal, it is actually highlighted: Japanese table tennis players are generally not in good shape for a long time.
