On May 14th, Beijing time, this morning the Chinese Table Tennis Association announced the announcement of part of the list of participants for the Paris Olympics, plus the list announced a few days ago, the current list of athletes participating in the Paris Olympics has also been determined.
The list of participants in each individual event of the National Table Tennis Paris Olympics is as follows:
Men's Singles: Fan Zhendong, Wang Chuqin;
Women's Singles: Sun Yingsha, Chen Meng;
Mixed Doubles: Wang Chuqin/Sun Yingsha;
Men's team: Fan Zhendong, Wang Chuqin, Ma Long, Liang Jingkun (P card);
Women's group: Sun Yingsha, Chen Meng, Wang Manyu, Wang Yidi (P card).
Compared with the previous national table tennis squad for the Olympic Games, the list of the Paris Olympics this time has several differences:
Difference 1: Malone set a record. In the history of national table tennis, no athlete has ever been able to participate in the Olympic Games 4 times, and the most is also 3 Olympic Games, in addition to Ma Long, there are 5 people who have participated in the Olympics 3 times, namely: Wang Nan, Wang Hao, Wang Liqin, Kong Linghui, Guo Yue.
Difference 2: Chen Meng set a record. In the history of the national table tennis women's team, no athlete over the age of 30 has participated in singles. Although Wang Nan was born in 1978, she was not yet 30 years old when the 2008 Olympics were held (her birthday was October 23). Therefore, Chen Meng can be regarded as creating a new record in national table tennis.
Difference 3: Sun Yingsha and Wang Chuqin have 3 sports. Sun Yingsha and Wang Chuqin will both compete in singles, team and mixed doubles, which is the first time in the history of national table tennis that an athlete has played a single event in a single Olympic Games.
Difference 4: Candidates for group P cards. Since joining the team competition at the 2008 Olympic Games, the selection of the P card (substitute) has been mainly based on young players, mainly to develop the next generation. The two P card players in the Paris Olympics are older, and they are the oldest P card players in the history of national table tennis.
