Can you believe that in 2014, someone in Vietnam made a tree carving with 30 tons of old tree roots bought for 10,000 yuan, and just one year later, someone offered a price of 10.5 million yuan, but the businessman was not moved.
Mei Jian is a Vietnamese whose hometown is the fifth place in Shuozhuang City, Mekong Delta, Vietnam. Because of his exposure to wood from an early age, Mei Jian has the ability to identify good wood, and he is good at business, so he grew up to engage in the wood industry and became a timber merchant.
Back in 2000, when Mei Jian was out running errands, while passing through Long Phu County, Vietnam, he happened to see two stone eagle trees (known to Vietnamese as stone eagle trees, what exactly is not clear).
With years of experience, Mei Jian felt that these two trees were really rare, and more importantly, when he inquired about the local elders, he heard that these two trees had a history of two hundred years.
Mei Jian's heart moved, and he decided to buy this tree. However, after hearing Mei Jian's idea, the owner of the tree firmly disagreed, he thought that this tree was two hundred years old and very precious, and when he was young, he played under the tree with his friends in the village, and he also had feelings, so he did not plan to sell it.
Seeing that the owner of the tree had such a resolute attitude, Mei Jian did not force it anymore, and when he returned to his hometown, because things were busy, he later forgot about it.
Unexpectedly, after more than ten years, Mei Jian received a phone call, it was the owner of the old tree more than ten years ago, and I don't know where he got Mei Jian's phone call, anyway, he asked Mei Jian if he still wanted to buy the old tree before.
What's going on? It turned out that later, for unknown reasons, the old ancient tree died inexplicably, and the tree fell in place and rotted incompletely.
After receiving the news, Mei Jian hesitated for a while, and finally agreed to go and see. When he arrived at the scene, not only was the ancient tree dead, but also rotten, Mei Jian was curious and asked why the owner of the tree did not sell the trunk when the tree died.
The owner of the tree smiled bitterly and talked about the reason. It turned out that when the tree had just died, he had asked the nearby villagers to cut down the tree, but I don't know why, the villagers who cut down this tree all had nightmares at night, so some people said that the tree could not be cut down, so it was abandoned there.
Later, the owner of the tree felt that it was a pity that the ancient tree had been rotting there, so he thought that Mei Jian had asked about the tree before, and he asked someone to call Mei Jian's phone and contact him with the idea of trying it.
The owner of the tree felt that Mei Jian would not be afraid because of some rumors, and hoped that he would be able to buy the tree.
However, this tree was so rotten that Mei Jian did not plan to sell it again, but he felt that the roots of the ancient tree should still be intact, so he proposed to buy the roots. The owner of the tree thought for a while, and finally agreed.
In this way, after the two sides agreed, Mei Jian finally bought the roots of this ancient tree for 35 million Vietnamese dong icon (about 10,000 yuan).
However, when digging this tree root, many people were shocked, because the size of this tree root is huge, and the weight is even more amazing, reaching an exaggerated 30 tons.
When digging the roots of the tree, Mei Jian spent a lot of effort. Because the huge tree roots could not be dug out casually, Mei Jianjian hired a lot of people, invited a crane, and finally wasted the power of the nine bulls and two tigers to dig out the roots. In order to transport the roots home, Mei Jian also wasted a lot of effort, he hired several trucks, and it took several days to transport them back to the house.
Counting down, the cost of digging and transporting this tree root is more than 200 million, which is a staggering price.
In order to store this tree root, Mei Jian also had to think about it, and finally he had a chance to remember that there was an abandoned factory building before, and in this way, this "big guy" was finally reasonably settled.
Even some people near Mei Jian heard that he had dug back a huge tree root, and they came to see what was going on, and they were very shocked when they saw such a huge tree root.
Although this huge tree root was transported back home, Mei Jian thought about it and finally did not decide what to do with this giant tree root.
Until one time, when Mei Jian was on a business trip, he happened to see a temple in the city, and there were many people who came to pray, so that there were many Buddha statues that were selling well.
He decided to use the roots of the tree to make more than a dozen carvings, these trees are basically a century-old good product, coupled with exquisite carving, when they are finally sold, it must be very hot.
However, in order to pursue the exquisite, coupled with the huge cost of these productions, it was only 10% completed after a year.
In the face of the huge root cadres, Mei Jian had a crazy idea, he planned to make the roots of the cadres into a lotus flower platform, and the root system was carved into tigers, lions, turtles, crocodiles and even Shakyamuni, Guanyin and other patterns.
In June 2015, the Vietnamese government suddenly issued a bill, that is, to strengthen the bill on ancient trees, which also led to the difficulty of finding many ancient tree roots, and the price of old tree roots in many places rose sharply, attracting many people to buy them.
And Mei Jian seems to have picked up a big bargain, and the crafts he made from old tree roots have also been robbed by people. In particular, the lotus platform that was intended to be made with the cadres of the old tree roots, although it had not yet been completed, someone had opened 2 billion Vietnamese dong.
Unexpectedly, this was just the beginning, and then many people increased their prices, and finally reached a staggering 35 billion Vietnamese dong (about 1050 yuan) to book.
Although the price has continued to climb, Mei Jian has not wavered in claiming that he has no intention of selling.
In the face of Mei Jian's behavior, the surrounding villagers all felt that he was crazy, and such a high price did not plan to sell, in case the price fell again in the future, it would lose a lot.
However, Mei Jian still did not plan to sell this lotus platform, he said that he thought that he had made wood for so many years, and when he saw such a precious ancient tree, he felt that it was fate and wanted to keep it.
