Iran is tough enough: more than 6,000 LGBT people have been shot in 40 years, and another one has just been executed! According to Israeli media reports, Iran executed 10 people, including a gay man, on June 29 in Karaj, the capital of Albolz province near Tehran, on charges of sodomy. According to reports, the Iranian regime often sentences gays and lesbians to death for sodomy. According to a 2008 diplomatic cable from WikiLeaks in the UNITED Kingdom, the Iranian regime has executed between 4,000 and 6,000 gays and lesbians since the 1979 Iranian Revolution. Under Iranian sharia law, same-sex sexual activity is a crime and can even be punishable by death. Iran is one of eight countries that can impose the death penalty for homosexuality. The other seven countries are Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Sudan, Nigeria, Somalia, Iraq and Syria.
