Yesterday, when taking a taxi through an old town in Panama City, the driver nervously asked me to close the windows, and I asked him why? He made a shooting gesture, and I immediately understood that this was a high crime area, and everyone consciously closed the window when driving by, probably afraid of being robbed.
I have always wondered why the social security of Latin American countries is mostly bad. It now seems that the stall of development, the unfair distribution, and the chronic poverty of many people are very important reasons, and this is precisely the result of excessive superstition and replication of the American neoliberal development model. Latin American countries learned from the Development Model of the United States, and instead of becoming the United States, they lost themselves. The way many people change their fate or escape their doom becomes illegal immigration to the United States.
