In the hot summer, a cup of ice Coke, simply don't be too cold and hearty.

Coke, a popular drink, is actually a veteran of more than 100 years old, it is sought after by hundreds of millions of people around the world, and it has also integrated with the local culture to produce many interesting new drinks, which has to mention "Free Cuba", a cocktail that has swept the world's taverns.

Coca Cola's life:

Coke was born in 1886 and its inventor was John Styce Pemberton. The old man served in the Federal Army during the Civil War, suffered many injuries during the war years, and gradually became drug dependent on morphine in treatment, which was, to put it bluntly, addiction.

John Stith Pemberton

The old man, John Stith Pemberton, was both an American pharmacist and a veteran, and invented Coke in his spare time.

Later, the old man thought in his heart, this is not ok, the name of the "addict" is not good, so he began to look for a substitute for morphine, coca leaf and coca wine also entered the old man's sight. Coca (Coca) is a plant that grows in the Andes mountains of South America, and the coca leaves contain cocaine (cocaine, also known as cocaine, one of the world's leading drugs), and local Indians have long chewed coca leaves to relieve pain and fatigue. So coke at that time accidentally hit the edge ball of drugs.

In 1885, the first version of The Coca-Cola formula was born, but the formula at that time contained cocaine and alcohol. Later, in order to cooperate with the state government's prohibition order, Pemberton developed an alcohol-free Coca-Cola. Pemberton finally sold the recipe to Asa Candler a few years before his death, and the drink was named Coca-Cola because it included coca leaves and tropical cola seeds.

Asa Kandler had a rough life, but was a good businessman and recognized as the "father of Coke". Pemberton invented Coke, and Asa Kandler made Coke go out into the world.

2. "Free Cuba" Cuba libre cocktail:

Ingredients: 60 ml white rum, 2 lime horns, ice cubes, a can of Coke

Step 2: First cut the lime into corners, put ice cubes in the cup, squeeze the juice of 2 lime horns into the cup.

Pour in the rum, fill up with cola, and decorate with lime horns.

Above is how the "Free Cuba" cocktail (cóctel) is configured.

Then we talk about the story of Free Cuba, the moral of this cocktail is that it literally means, for a free Cuba Por Cuba libre!

There are two sets of theories about the birth of "free Cuba": one is a statement that the United States has put gold on its face, and the second is a more credible statement, mainly because it is too old to verify, I have put it at the bottom, and you can judge for yourself.

I.) The story of the United States putting gold on its face:

In the autumn of 1898, the Spanish-American War was coming to an end, and the old empire of Spain was crushed on the ground by the thriving American Empire, and it lost all its overseas enclaves. Cuba was nominally independent at the time and had in fact become a colony of the United States.

The morale of the victorious Americans was high, and one of the lieutenants went to a bar in Cuba to celebrate, and the captain took the opportunity to have the bartender serve a glass of rum with Coke and dot the corner of the glass with lime. The surrounding team members took a look: Oh, good guy! Also the captain you will drink.

After that, everyone in the team held a cup and celebrated the victory together. In this situation, our excited captain has to say two words, and he has to give a speech on the whole point. The captain is also a guy who wears a top hat, raising his glass and shouting the liberation of Cuba For Free Cuba!

1898 Spanish-American War

Of course, the eyes of the masses are shining, and the story told by the US imperialists is good, but it is inconsistent with historical facts. Coca-Cola did take the United States by storm in 1898, but Coke's entry into Cuba was a postscript from 1900.

Let's also look at Tu Yile, the US empire tells stories has a set.

II.) The inadvertent insertion of willows by the local rebels:

Before the outbreak of the Spanish-American War in 1898, the Cuban people suffered from Spanish rule for a long time. Spain's colonial policy was too brutal, and the local revolutionary uprisings continued.

In Spanish, there is a proper noun for the insurgents of Cuba during this period: mambí, which means insurgents in the War of Independence. Because the disparity between the enemy and our forces is too great compared with the Spanish government army, this group of mambies has long been engaged in guerrilla warfare, which is similar to the thinking of the people's army fighting behind enemy lines in the early stage of the War of Resistance Against Japan. Their slogan is for Cuban freedom!

Justice is justice, but the days of this group of rebels are really bitter haha, and they are about to eat chaff and throat vegetables. In 1900, Coke was introduced to Cuba, and the insurgents found that Americans were annoying, but American goods were really good. So they added ingredients such as Cuban rum, honey and tropical lime to drink.

When drinking, everyone has everything to say: for Cuba Por Cuba Libre! And everyone also found this cocktail good, how to say? The wine is not strong, drinking is not drunk, and it can also refresh and resist fatigue. In short, it is a good match for the Red Bull effect.

Over time, the name of the cocktail passed down. Later, there was a female group in the United States called The Andrews Sisters who sang "Rum and Coca-Cola" for a while.
