Chen Yuelong, a staff member of the Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo Rescue Center, recalled that after the staff checked, the bird had no trauma, no fractures, and its nutritional status was good, which may have been injured by an accidental impact on the building.
The ambulance center staff placed it in a quiet, secluded environment, feeding it and replenishing its nutrition.
Chen Yuelong said that at that time, it was found that there was a problem with its wing posture, unlike normal birds, the wings can be well carried behind the body, and the side of the wings of this forest eagle is a little off, which may be a little sports injury.
In the end, after more than a month of recuperation, the forest eagle was in good condition and flew normally in the cage. Because it was the first time that the Red Mountain Zoo Rescue Center rescued the forest eagle, before it was released, the staff and the research team of the South Forest University cooperated to install a GPS locator for it.
After this forest eagle is released into the wild, it can continuously send back some data, including the location of the activity, the range of activity, and the rhythm of the activity. The staff also hopes that through the accumulation of this information, they will have more understanding of such species, so as to guide the staff to do better conservation work.
