The forest eagle, a national second-level protected animal, appeared in the green onion lake of Longyou

Recently, when the biodiversity and ecological protection research team of Nanjing Forestry University conducted the investigation and observation of wildlife biodiversity in longyou Lulianghu Provincial Wetland Park, it once again encountered a pair of forest eagles.

Forest eagle (scientific name: Ictinaetusmalaiensis) is a national second-level key protected wild animal, the eagle eagle family forest eagle genus, is a medium-sized raptor, the habitat of the environmental requirements are high, mostly inhabit the altitude of 1000-2500 meters in the mountain evergreen broad-leaved forest, often circling in the air, or along the forest edge flight patrol, flying skills, mainly amphibians, small mammals and birds for food, but also prey on the eggs and chicks of other birds.

According to Lin Xiaoyue, secretary of the party branch of Xikou Forest Farm, this pair of forest sculptures living in the wetland park is two that have been seen in recent years when they return to the mountain. Li Yao, a doctor from the School of Biology and Environment of Nanjing Forestry University, said that birds of prey are mostly at the top of the food chain and feed on other small and medium-sized animals, which is an indispensable and important role in maintaining ecological balance, and it is also one of the most easily measured indicators of ecosystem health. Forest eagles can appear in Luliang Lake, indicating that the ecology here is healthy, the species are rich, the food chain is complete, and it meets its living conditions.

As the core scenic spot of Liuchun Lake Scenic Area, Longyou LuliangHu Provincial Wetland Park is rich in animal and plant resources. Up to now, 353 species of higher plants in 238 genera and 107 families have been recorded, of which 7 species of wild plants under national key protection have been recorded. More than 5,000 animal photos were taken, and 1 species of wild animals under national first-level key protection and 4 species of national second-level key protected animals were found.
