The forest eagle is a medium-sized bird of prey of the falcon-shaped eagle family.
Dark brown throughout. There are white spots under the eyes and eyes; the upper tail feathers are pale brown with white transverse spots; and the tail feathers have inconspicuous gray-brown transverse spots.
It preys on rodents , snakes , lizards , frogs , pheasants and small birds , as well as the eggs and chicks of other birds. Its natural habitat is mountain evergreen broad-leaved forests at altitudes of 1000–2500 m.
