Cracked cases of endangering precious and endangered wild animals

On August 24, the Xincheng Branch of the Public Security Bureau of Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, announced that it had recently cracked a case of selling rare and endangered wild animals through an online platform. The police of the special case group seized 326 nautilus shells of national first-level protected animals, 410 snail shells of the national second-level protected animals, and 7 snail shells of Tangguan snails on the spot in the dens of criminal suspects, and arrested 4 criminal suspects. It is reported that the nautilus has been listed in Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), which is an endangered species and a national key protected wild animal. On February 5, the State Forestry and Grassland Administration and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs released the latest version of the "List of Wild Animals under National Key Protection", which also included Faluo in the list of protection.
