Xining, 1 Dec (Xinhua) -- On 1 December, this reporter learned from the Propaganda Department of the Mangya Municipal CPC Committee in Qinghai Province that the forest police brigade of the Mangya City Public Security Bureau successfully rescued the endangered wild animal Black Iris.

According to the forest police brigade of the Mangya City Public Security Bureau, when the team carried out the daily inspection of the jurisdiction on November 30, an injured wild bird was found in the abandoned house, and the police found that the wings were injured and could not fly normally, so they brought it back to the brigade to feed and treat.

After returning, the police immediately contacted the local forestry and grassland department, and after identification, it was identified as a "black kite", which is a national second-level protected animal and included in the 2012 Red List of Endangered Species of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Subsequently, the police patiently observed, and regularly fed fresh beef, cleaned up the trauma and carefully cared for it, and took appropriate treatment measures to see the recovery situation in the later stage.

According to the data, the black kite is a medium-sized bird of prey, with a total of 7 subspecies and a body length of 54-69 cm. Its natural habitats are open plains, meadows, wastelands and low hills. It is active during the day, often flying alone at high altitudes, and sometimes in small groups of 2-3 in autumn. It feeds mainly on animal foods such as birds, rodents, snakes, frogs, fish, hares, lizards and insects, and generally observes and forages for food by hovering in the air, distributed in Eurasia, Africa, India, and all the way to Australia.

The relevant person in charge of the forest police brigade of the Mangya City Public Security Bureau said that with the vigorous publicity of the state on the protection of wild animals, the continuous improvement of relevant laws, the people's thinking is constantly improving, and the awareness of protecting wild animals is constantly improving, effectively protecting wildlife resources, promoting the harmonious development of man and nature, and making wild animals have a better living environment.
