Where is the Samsung UFS 4.0?

First, the UFS 4.0 has a speed of up to 23.2Gbps per channel, twice as fast as Samsung's predecessor, the UFS 3.1. According to Samsung, "such a large bandwidth is ideal for 5G smartphones that require a lot of data processing."

UFS 3.1 flash memory has a maximum read rate of 2100MB/s and a maximum write rate of 1200MB/s. The UFS 4.0 flash memory has a maximum read rate of 4200MB/s and a maximum write rate of 2800MB/s. From UFS 3.0 to UFS 3.1, there is no major change in the maximum reading speed, and this upgrade to UFS4.0 directly doubles the speed.

Secondly, the energy efficiency of UFS 4.0 has also been improved. UFS 4.0 has a sequential read speed of 6.0MB/s per mAh, which is 46% higher than the previous generation. As a result, users can transfer more data while consuming the same amount of power.

Finally, the UFS 4.0 flash memory chip has a package size of only 11x13x1mm, and the maximum capacity can reach 1TB. While the size is smaller than the previous generation, the maximum capacity is larger. I believe that in the near future, the SD card slot on Android phones may be disappearing.

What is UFS Flash?

Take the 8GB+128GB specification of the mobile phone we often say as an example, 8GB refers to the memory, and the flash memory refers to the 128GB part, which is the size of the mobile phone storage space that we usually say.
