Fifteen years after its release, Amazon Kindle finally supports the ePub e-book format

Amazon's small step solved the "distress" of Kindle e-book users for 15 years.

A few days ago, Amazon officially updated the Kindle support documentation, and the old fans were surprised to find that in the Kindle push service, support for the ePub e-book format was added.

Of course, Kindle still can't directly recognize the support for ePub format, because the push service will use cloud transcoding to convert ePub into AZW3 files. However, on the latest Kindle Paperwhite, there is no problem with pushing ePub, and the transcoding effect is good.

Although kindle has long been able to achieve ePub support through jailbreaking, brushing more/Android, etc., there are not a few genuine Kindle machine users. In addition, the official cloud transcoding can be much better than the advertised three-party website, and the transformation experience is much better.

It is worth mentioning that in addition to the mail push, "Send to Kindle App" will also add support for ePub at the end of the year.

Finally, while ePub is included in the push, MOBI and AZW format e-books will be abandoned by the push service, and Amazon's explanation is that it cannot adapt to the new text UI. According to the data, Amazon acquired Mobi format developer Mobipocket in 2005, and subsequently, Mobi changed its name to AZW.

It is reported that Amazon began to make the first large-scale system UI adjustment since 2016 in September last year, and more fine-tuning was made in March this year.
