Operation Emperor will begin on May 11 and will last at least two weeks. As an in-game live event, Operation Kings sees the latest war zone map, Crater, as a stage for an epic brawl between Godzilla and King Kong, which Activision believes will help advance the narrative of Season 3 in a continuous and interactive way.
According to the leaked information, the fight between Godzilla and King Kong will not be a simple CG broadcast, but will personally interact with the player. Players must keep an eye on the map during battle royale to avoid the aftermath of the war between the two Titan monsters. While not unique compared to other games, Operation Kings will be the first fully interactive live event in the war zone, focusing the season update narrative on the in-game interactive experience with players, rather than traditionally relying on cutscenes outside of the game.
After years of operation, Activision has found that telling the narrative through one-off cutscenes and adding content to the season's corresponding battle passes does not promote fan engagement and participation. In this regard, Fortnite's player interaction activities are very good.
