IT House April 29 news, earlier this week, Israeli startup Wi-Charge revealed its plans to launch a true wireless charger, which does not require a Qi base. Wi-Charge CEO Ori Mor mentioned that it is working with Belkin, and the product may be released as early as this year.
But according to Ars Technica, Belkin recently said the opposite, saying it's "too early" to talk about true wireless charging.
Belkin spokesman Jen Wei said in a statement that the company has been working closely with Wi-Charge on product concepts. However, contrary to what the Wi-Charge CEO said, a true wireless charger could still take years to roll out.
According to Belkin, both companies are committed to researching and developing new technologies to make true wireless charging a reality, but products that adopt the technology will only hit the market after multiple tests to confirm their "technical feasibility."
That said, Belkin seems unlikely to launch a true wireless charger this year.
IT House learned that Wi-Charge technology is based on a transmitter plugged into a wall outlet, converting electrical energy into a safe infrared beam that transmits it wirelessly. The devices around this transmitter can receive electrical energy within a 12-meter radius, up to 1W, and although they cannot charge the phone, they can be used with accessories such as headphones and remote controls.
Previously, Xiaomi, OPPO, Motorola and many other Chinese mobile phone manufacturers have released true wireless charging concept technology to achieve air charging.
