People's Daily Abuja, April 24 (Reporter Jiang Xuan) In order to celebrate the "International Chinese Day", the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria and the NepalEse Chinese Cultural Center held a series of celebration activities on the 20th of "Chinese: Building a Better Future Together". More than 100 people, including Li Xuda, Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal and Director of the Chinese Cultural Center, Jia Xiaoling, Deputy Director, Idura, Director of the Department of International Cultural Relations of the Ministry of Information and Culture of Nepal, Suleiman, President of the Nepalese Chinese Returned Scholars Association and the National Artists Association of Nepal, Mike, Chairman of the Abuja Wushu Association, representatives of relevant local Chinese-funded companies, teachers and students of some "Horn of China" Middle School, and lovers of Chinese Chinese culture, attended the celebration.

Li Xuda said that this year is the 13th "International Chinese Day", and we are pleased to see that in recent years, more and more Nigerians, especially young students, have joined the ranks of learning Chinese. So far, China and Nepal have jointly built two Confucius Institutes and more than 10 Chinese teaching sites. It is hoped that China and Nepal will learn from each other, appreciate the charm of the language, unite and forge ahead, and create a better future.

Idura says language is the most important part of any culture through which people communicate with each other and build relationships. In the more than 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China, mutual understanding and cultural exchanges between the two peoples have become deeper and deeper. Teaching Chinese is an important aspect of the cultural relationship between Nepal and China. I hope that everyone present will work hard to learn Chinese from now on so that they can communicate proficiently in Chinese in the future.

Subsequently, the staff of the Embassy in Nepal, employees of Chinese enterprises, students of the "Horn of China", students of the Chinese Language Center, students of the Abuja Wushu Association and local artists took the stage to perform, and successively performed Peking Opera oratorios, Chinese songs, Chinese dances, traditional Chinese instrumental music performances, Chinese calligraphy displays, Chinese martial arts performances, Chinese poetry recitations. The whole program was colorful and wonderful, and won continuous applause.

The "International Chinese Day" began in 2010, and the "Gu Yu" of each year was designated as the "International Chinese Day" to commemorate the contribution of Cangjie, the ancestor of Chinese characters. The establishment of the "International Chinese Day" can continuously enhance the understanding of the people of the world about contemporary China and Chinese civilization, and realize the beautiful expectations of the people of all countries in the world for the common prosperity of the humanities.
