My mother loved to read my poems, though many of them she couldn't understand

Sometimes I look at it like a schoolboy, look at me with heartache, and start

Many times, when I was asleep or not at home, she put on a stool and sat in the yard
As I read it, I flipped through the dictionary and read it to the chickens that were pecking at my feet
Read to the dappled tree shadows under the stool

Read it to her father, who was standing behind her smoking silently
Sometimes when she found me in the doorway, she would blush and read it to me

Forgive me, the wind opens your bare buds. Dark incense on the buds
Whitewash my butterfly-like tears
Excuse me, I loved autumn

or ashes of sclerosis in the wild
Forgive all the messy past. It is a nostalgic yellow bird
It is fertile land
It used to have long lobes that were as soft as a tongue
Forgive me, impetuous bloat in the teacup, the old swinging lights in the afternoon
Please forgive me for pulling out the chrysanthemum roots and autumn seeds next to the fence
Only the emaciated chrysanthemum stem of truth remains

Kanas Kitten, whose real name is Wang Jueli, was born in Qingdao, Shandong in the 1980s, and now settles in Altay, Xinjiang, a member of the Xinjiang Writers Association, a student of the 40th Senior Research Class for Young and Middle-Aged Writers of Lu Xun Literature College, and his prose and poetry works have appeared in Poetry Monthly, Shanghai Poets, Western Poetry World, Coconut City, etc.
