A few days ago, Horizon officially announced that BYD and Horizon officially reached a fixed-point cooperation. After that, BYD will be equipped with horizon automatic driving chip Journey 5 on some of its models to create a one-way solution for high-level automatic driving.

In fact, Horizon is a fringe artificial intelligence chip technology company that originated in China and has a global layout, with capabilities such as artificial intelligence chip design and autonomous driving solutions.
In terms of products, in July 2021, the Horizon Journey 5 chip was officially released, which is the third generation of vehicle standard grade products after the mass production of The Journey 2 and Journey 3 China Vehicle Regulation Grade Chips, with the attributes of large computing power and high performance. In terms of performance, the AI computing power of The Journey 5 single chip can reach up to 128 TOPS, supports 16 camera perception calculations, and can support the needs of multi-sensor fusion, prediction and planning control required for automatic driving.
Horizon also revealed in the official announcement that BYD models equipped with Horizon Journey 5 will be available as early as mid-2023. This means that the model is expected to debut in the mid-to-late 2022, and Based on this, the model may be a high-end model previously revealed by BYD.
Finally, Horizon said that this cooperation is a breakthrough in actual business cooperation between the two sides after BYD invested in Horizon and reached a strategic cooperation with Horizon (BYD had participated in Horizon C round financing, 2.2 billion yuan), and BYD also became the first car company to officially announce the equipped with Horizon Journey 5 chip.
According to Yang Mi, in addition to BYD, SAIC, Great Wall, Changan, Ideal and other car companies have also reached a series production cooperation intention with Horizon 5 chip before, and related research and development work is also advancing, ANDD only issued a fixed-point cooperation announcement to the outside world earlier.
From the perspective of the industry, this is also the first case of cooperation in the development of high-level autonomous driving products by Chinese car companies that officially announced that they will be equipped with China's high-end intelligent chips (at present, the high-end intelligent driving chip market is occupied by foreign giants such as NVIDIA). Facing the future, China's first-class AI chip technology companies and Chinese car companies have joined forces to create world-class intelligent car products, or become a major trend.
