exegesis:

The whole world says that I am a great man: " I, the one who has attained the Tao. The first-person pronoun in the text is commonly used as "I". The "I" that appears in chapters 17, 20, 42, 53, and 57 all refer to "the enlightened one who is different from all others." ◇ Supper, the original meaning is "when the night comes, people's activities have stopped, and they are going to go home to sleep", and it is time to go to bed. Xiao (xiāo), smaller, decaying, decaying, disappearing, subtle. Words such as 细, 消、 静, pin and so on all have the meaning of "Xiao". The "night" here is the same as "Xiao", that is, the meaning of becoming smaller and weaker. Xiào, similar, imitated. ☆ Everyone in the world says that I (the enlightened one) am great and do not fade.

Slender for a long time: ◇ Fine, as opposed to "coarse", the original meaning refers to the diameter of the silk thread is very small; by extension, it means tiny. It is further extended to "detailed", meticulous and thorough; trivial, humble, weak and so on. ☆ Tiny and long-lasting.

I always have three treasures: ◇ Constant, always, always. ☆ The enlightened one always has three things that guarantee his greatness and immortality.

茲: ◇茲, the original meaning refers to the growth of grass and trees; flourishing, luxuriant. Same as "nourishment". Promote things to breed growth; breed. Simply put, "Zi" is "profitable". The popular version changes "Zi" to "Kindness"; well-intentioned. ☆First, it can promote human growth. Profitable.

Two-day inspection: ◇ inspection, the original meaning is to verify the seal; to see if it is consistent with the standard. Such as inspection, testing, maintenance, review, inspection, etc. It means to examine whether one's words and deeds conform to the standards of the Tao. The second is to be able to review one's own words and deeds according to the standards of the Tao. Discipline yourself.

Therefore, I can be brave: ◇ Courage, full of strength, with strength. Warrior means a man of great power. From "great strength" can defeat the opponent, and extended to "bold" and courageous. ☆ Therefore, I can have power.

Female: ◇ Female, with "Ru". ◇ Wall, the original meaning of the wall; ancient a kind of granary; by extension, the city pool. Build a city around, guarded. ☆ You have to guard it with breeding.

General:

The whole world says that I am not late. The husband is only big, so he does not supper; if the night is long, it is long.

The people of the world speak of the Great and the Great. It is because of greatness that it does not fade; if it does, it will exist as long as the subtle Tao.

★ What does this sentence mean? Although the great man who contributed greatly to mankind has passed away, the spiritual wealth left by the great man will forever affect human society. This is the meaning of "big night".

Why can the enlightened be like this? For the enlightened person has "three things" that can guarantee him "great death."

I always have three treasures, one is Zi, the second is inspection, and the third is not daring to be the first in the world. FuZi, so can be brave; Inspection, so can be wide; Don't dare to be the first in the world, so you can be a long time.

The enlightened person always has three things to ensure that he is great and does not fade: one is to promote human growth (for the benefit of others), the second is to be able to examine his words and deeds according to the standards of the Tao (self-discipline), and the third is to be unwilling to be the leader of the world (not to compete for the lead). Only by being able to benefit others can we have strength; only by being able to discipline ourselves can we be widely recognized by the people; only by not striving to be a leader can we accomplish things and be the leader of the people.

★ The self-interested can exert a beneficial effect on others, and must get a beneficial reaction; he can unite others and has great power. Self-disciplined people can strictly control their words and deeds, and do not exert adverse effects on others; they can be generally recognized. Those who do not argue and are unwilling to be leaders can instead get the support of the people and are forced to be leaders.

"Benefiting people" is the most important, which can unite the people and be invincible to the world.

Now he is brave and courageous; After and before; Then you will die. Husband and wife, to win the battle, to the rule of solidity. Heaven will build it, and the woman will build it.

Now people give up the benefits and want to have power; they do not want to be led and fight for leadership; then they will undoubtedly die. Sharp people are important, for combat can win, for defense can be solid. Since heaven and earth have created it, you have guarded it with breeding.

★ The essence of the Tao is "interaction." The reaction obtained by exerting a good effect on the outside world is good; by exerting a bad effect on the outside world, the resulting reaction is bad. The criterion for judging "good or bad" is "prebiotic". To make others live well is to let yourself live well; this is "self-interest."

We cannot change "Zi" to "kindness" and "inspection" to "thrifty"; otherwise, we will deceive ourselves.
