Once, Su Dongpo felt that his understanding of Buddhism during this period of time was quite profound, and his cultivation in Buddhism had reached a new level, and he had reached a state of eight winds and immovable movement. What is the eight winds that do not move? This "eight winds" is a Buddhist concept. It refers to profit, decline, destruction, praise, ridicule, bitterness, and happiness, and these four smooth and four reversals are a total of eight things. "Profit" means smooth success; "decline" is unlucky and unsuccessful, and failure is called decline; when others praise you, this is called "reputation"; when others slander you, this is called "destruction"; "praise" is praise, praise in person is called "weighing"; sarcasm against you in person is called "ridicule"; "suffering" is painful; happiness and pleasure are "happiness". These eight are called the "Eight Winds." Don't The Buddhists always teach people to have a normal mind, to have an undifferentiated mind, without distinction? Therefore, the Buddhists teach people to achieve a kind of cultivation, what kind of cultivation? Cultivation that can reach the realm of "eight winds not moving". It doesn't matter whether others ruin you or praise you, your heart can be equally calm. This is a very good, but not easy to achieve. Su Dongpo felt that during this period of time, after his own understanding of Zen theory and through his own cultivation of mind and morality, he had reached the realm of the eight winds not moving. He felt very good about himself. Therefore, Su Dongpo wanted to tell the Buddha Seal about the results of his cultivation in this period. Therefore, Su Dongpo wrote a five-word poem:
The first day of the audit,
Millimeter light shines a thousand;
Eight winds do not blow,
Sit on the purple lotus.
After Su Dongpo finished writing, he was very proud, sealed the letter, and sent it to the Golden Mountain Temple on the other side of the river, where the Buddhist seal Zen master was at the time. Su Dongpo opened it and looked at it, and the two words on it—farting were on top of his five-word poem. Su Dongpo was furious, this monk, you are so rude! It seems that you are jealous that I have reached the realm of the eight winds and do not move, and actually dare to write the word "fart" on my poem. You're so morally insulting and insulting to Sven! I'll have to argue with you!" I have to ask you, why write farts! I have to humiliate and humiliate you to your face, I expose and expose your dark psychology, you are jealous!
Su Dongpo was angry and immediately ordered, "Prepare the ship!" Cross the river! ”
Furious, he came to the Golden Mountain Temple and went directly to the Zen hall of the Buddhist Zen master. When I arrived at the door of the zen hall, the zen hall was closed. A note was posted on the top of this door.
Su Dongpo leaned over to take a closer look, and on this note was written a couplet,
The upper link is: eight winds can not move;
The next link is: a fart across the river!

A few days later, Su Dongpo came to the Golden Mountain Temple to find the Buddha seal. Two people meditate cross-legged and sit there and meditate.
After sitting for a while, Su Dongpo was very happy and asked, "Great Monk of the Buddha Seal, see how my sitting posture is?" ”
Buddha Seal nodded, "Well, you're sitting well, very solemn!" I see you as if you were a true Buddha. ”
When Su Dongpo heard the words of the Buddha Seal, he was very happy and felt that the Buddha Seal had already acknowledged his achievements in Buddhism.
After a while, The Buddha Seal asked Su Dongpo, "Scholar, how do you see my sitting posture now?" ”

How insulting are you to say that. But the Buddha Seal was not angry when he heard it. Still so happy to meditate with Su Dongpo and meditate together. After finishing the matter, Su Dongpo went back.
Since then, Su Dongpo has told this matter as a story, and everyone said: "I sat in meditation that day, I could humiliate the Buddha seal, this is so... The Buddha seal said that when I sat in meditation, I was like a Buddha, and I said that the Buddha seal was like a pile of cow dung..." I was very happy.
Soon after, Su Dongpo arrived in Hangzhou. I told this again to a good friend of my own, Master Vereen.
Wei Lin listened, shook her head, looked at Su Dongpo and said, "University scholar, you think you have taken advantage of others, do you think you have won?" ”
"Ah," said Su Dongpo, "but didn't I win?" Heck, I made him not have to say anything. ”

Su Dongpo was very surprised, "How did I lose?" I left him speechless, so why did I lose? ”
Wei Lin said, You must know that the Eyes of the Buddha come out of the Buddha, and the eyes of the come out of the. It is precisely because the Buddha's seal is perfect in the heart, and people are a Buddha's heart. Therefore, people's eyes are Buddha's eyes, and the world they see is the world of Buddhas, so they see that you are a true Buddha. And you, because your heart is a heart, a cow dung heart, so your world is a cow dung world. Therefore, the people you see are also cow dung, which is called Buddha's eyes out of Buddha's eyes, and out of. You thought you had won the game, but how big was the world gap between the two of you? ”
