▲ Xu Wei (1521-1593), character Wenqing, more character Wenchang, tianchi shanren, Tianshuiyue, Tianchisheng, Qingteng Daoist, etc. A native of Shanyin (present-day Shaoxing, Zhejiang). In the twelfth year, he was a student, and he repeatedly failed to pass the township examination. He was a guest of Hu Zongxian, the governor of Fujian and Zhejiang, and planned an anti-Wu rebellion for him. Sexual uninhibited, poetry, calligraphy and painting are unbridled, and the style is distinct. Calligraphy learned Mi Fu, unrestrained and vigorous, and commented on himself: "My book is the first, poetry is the second, the text is three, and the painting is four." He is the author of The Complete Works of Xu Wenchang.
Xu Wei is versatile and unique in poetry, drama, calligraphy and painting, and is called "the three talents of the Ming Dynasty" along with Xie Jin and Yang Shen.
The contrast between Xu Wei's calligraphy and the dreary atmosphere of the early Ming Dynasty is particularly prominent, and he is best at imposing wild grass, but it is difficult for ordinary people to understand and uses a pen. This Xu Wei cursive scroll "Spring Rain Poems" is the author's self-written long poem Seven Ancient Two Chapters. Judging from the way in which only the era name is not seen, it is known that he did it in the spring of a certain year after the Longqing Kaiyuan (1567) of the Ming Dynasty [according to the press, Xu Wei had been in prison for serving as an aide to Hu Zongxian, causing insanity caused by the jiajing forty-fourth year (1565) case, and was imprisoned for killing his wife the following year]. This volume is quite close to the swallowing and moving of the mi fu calligraphy style, and the book body is nearly the signs of Zhu Yunming in the middle of the year. It can be inferred that the author's age at that time was between the ages of 49 and 52 who had been released from prison.
Xu Wei's calligraphy, which is in the same vein as large-scale freehand ink painting, has a distinct style and a strong personality, and its unrestrained cursive writing is particularly well-known.
