The satirical novel Gulliver's Travels by British writer Jonathan Swift is world-renowned. Among them, the experience of the protagonist Captain Gulliver in the villain country and the adult country is even more popular, and his creative imagination is convincing. For nearly three hundred years, it has been loved by readers around the world.

What is less well known is that a few decades before the advent of Gulliver's Travels, the Chinese writer Pu Songling created a Chinese version of the story of the villain country and the adult country in his "Liaozhai Zhiyi". The model of his creation is a miniature human being who is much smaller than ordinary human beings and a much larger giant human being, just like in Gulliver's Travels. We may wish to compare and read the story of the two adult countries.

"Chatting with Zhiyi Adult" tells the story of an experience of six or seven Hebei merchants in Yunnan.

The merchants got lost in the dark and walked into a dense valley. They tied their horses to trees, unloaded their luggage, and perched on them. Late at night, an adult who was more than a foot tall came, and they shrank into a ball of fright, lying on the ground, and the atmosphere did not dare to come out.

The adults first ate all of their horses, then used a branch to put their gills up one by one, dressed them in a bunch, carried a few steps, felt that the branches would break, and bent the two ends of the branches together, pressed them with a boulder, and then left.

After the adults left, the merchants took out sabers to cut the branches, covered their cheeks with great pain, and pulled their legs and fled. Without taking a few steps, they saw that the adult had come with another, bigger adult, and quickly hid in the forest.

The two adults looked around for them, but didn't look for them, very angry. The adults were gone, and the merchants did not dare to stay, and walked in a deserted way, trying to escape the valley as soon as possible. In the distance, I saw that there were lights on the ridge, and the merchants walked over.

It was a stone house with a man like a merchant. The merchants told the men what had happened to them. The man was very angry when he heard this, but at the same time he said that he was powerless to subdue the two adults, and that he could discuss it with her when his sister returned.

After a while, his sister returned with two tigers, heard about what had happened to the merchants, and was so angry that she wanted to get rid of the harm. She took out a copper hammer weighing three or four hundred pounds in the house and went out to look for the two adults. Men cook tiger meat at home to entertain merchants.

Before the meat was cooked, the woman returned. She told everyone that the two adults saw her and ran, and she chased for dozens of miles, breaking the finger of one of them. With that, he threw that finger on the ground. That finger was thicker than the average person's leg. The woman took out the medicine powder and gave it to the merchants, and they put it on the cheeks to relieve the pain. The merchants ate tiger meat at the brothers and sisters' house and stayed overnight.

The next day, the woman sent them out of the house, and came to the tree where the merchants' luggage was still there. Everyone walked for more than ten miles, and saw that in the stone depression where the woman and the adults fought last night, there were still blood marks as large as a basin. The woman sent them out of the mountain and returned to the valley.

Gulliver, who drifted to the kingdom of adults, had another experience. Most of the adults he met were friendly to him. But those megafauna are not necessarily the same.

Gulliver first met a cat. The cat was the size of three bulls. Gulliver was just as frightened as the merchants were when they saw adults.

However, Gulliver thought about it for a moment and decided not to show a look of fear in front of the big cat. He felt that if he showed fear of the cat in front of him, it would trigger it to chase and attack him.

So he acted as if he didn't care, and boldly walked back and forth in front of the cat five or six times. As a result, the cat was afraid of him and shrank back.

One day, Gulliver was attacked by two rats, the size of mastiffs. We can imagine that even if they are not rats, but two mastiffs pounce on people, the average person cannot resist the simultaneous attack of two mastiffs, let alone they are such huge rats, they are afraid to think.

However, at this time, Gulliver had gone through a confrontation with the cat, and his courage had increased a lot. He bravely pulled out his waist knife and slashed it into the belly of a mouse. The rat's belly was cut open and fell to the ground. The other rat turned its head in fright and ran, but it was too late, and it was stabbed in the back by Gulliver's knife. Two rats fell to the ground, blood flowing. Gulliver found that one of them had not yet lost his breath, gave it a knife to the neck, and finally killed it.

These two sets of stories were written by different writers in China and the Uk. The background, characters, plot, narrative style, etc. of the story are quite different, but the theme of the expression is the same, that is: when we encounter an enemy that is much stronger than us, what should we do?

At first, Gulliver saw a cat as big as three bulls, and the merchants saw adults who were more than a foot tall, and their instinctive reactions were all fear. After all, this is beyond common knowledge, and psychologically it can't be adapted at once.

Even the two hunter brothers and sisters were not born bold. They also live in the valley where adults are haunted, and they have slowly adapted to the environment in which adults appear.

The same was true of Gulliver, who tightened his fearful mind and walked back and forth in front of the big cat, which made the cat afraid of him. Especially when Gulliver drew his knife and cut through the belly of one mouse, the other mouse turned around and ran in fright, which is the same as when adults see female hunters turn around and run.

Those two adults must have learned the power of female hunters before, especially when they saw her carrying three or four hundred pounds of copper hammers, which was even more frightening than a mouse.

In fact, when those few businessmen saw adults, they should do the same. Although they do not have the undue courage of female hunters, they can also have their way of dealing with adults. They can escape quickly while the adults eat the horses.

Running away is also a bravery. The night was dark, they were small, and adults might not be able to catch them. If they scatter and flee, the adults can only catch one of them at best, and the others can still escape safely.

Otherwise, they could carry the sabre with them, just like Gulliver, pull out the saber and scratch the adult's hand, making him let go of the pain to save himself.

Gulliver alone still had to deal with two rats, but there were six or seven of them. If six or seven knives cut through the hands of adults, the lethality is still quite large. Unfortunately, they were all so frightened that they fell to their knees, and let the adults put them on one by one, almost becoming the food in the mouth of another adult.

Since a strong enemy exists, fear will not help, but will encourage the other party to despise and humiliate their own arrogance, and the result of being tied up will be a dead end. If you want to survive, you have no choice but to bravely face and fight, so that there is at least a glimmer of life.

When you defeat the strong with the weak, you will know that the enemy is only seemingly strong. This is the truth that the two writers tell us through the story of the adult kingdom.
