CDPR has decided to postpone the next-generation version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt indefinitely

IT House reported on April 14 that Polish game developer CD Projekt has retracted its previous decision and announced an indefinite postponement of the release of its next-generation version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a news that caused its stock price to fall by as much as 4% on Thursday.

CDPR officials said that based on the development team's proposal, it has decided to transfer the follow-up development work for the next-generation version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to its own team (previously outsourced), and is currently evaluating the scope of the development work and the new release date, so the original release plan must be postponed until further notice.

IT House learned that the next-generation version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released in late 2020, and the initial release date was set for 2021, but it was postponed to the second quarter of 2022 due to many issues such as the epidemic. In addition, the next-generation development of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is handled by Saber Interactive (the contractor for the Switch port of the game).

According to previous official accounts, the next-generation Version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will land on the PS5/Xbox Series/PC platform, supporting ray tracing, faster loading speeds, and features of "next-generation update content or features for PC platforms", and players with this generation of games can upgrade for free.

The next-generation version of the game will also feature a new free bonus inspired by Netflix's The Witcher live-action series, including the web series Geralt's armor and more.
