Two years ago, whether it was a large domestic manufacturer or a new car-making force, because of the difference in product positioning and market entry points, the appealing car companies never formed a head-on competition with Tesla.
In 2022, a number of car companies have launched their own pure electric medium-sized cars, including BYD, which has achieved excellent results in the 100,000-level pure electric market (dolphin). This time, they came up with a second model using THE BYD e platform 3.0 - BYD Seals.

As the second model to adopt BYD e platform 3.0, in terms of appearance, BYD Seal follows the concept car ocean-X's "marine aesthetic" design concept. The downward flat nose is composed of four independent bulging rib lines, with the upward expansion of the body shape on both sides, which is much better than the BYD Dolphin in terms of styling alone.
On the side of the body, the new car is 4800/1875/1460mm in length, width and height, and the wheelbase is 2920mm, and from the perspective of body size, the new car may be positioned in the B-class car. In terms of the tail, the upward bulging tail box trim forms a ducktail shape, and the design of the through-type tail lamp improves the overall recognition to a certain extent. In addition, the new car adopts blackening treatment in the trim panels, wordmarks and other positions, which further strengthens the sporty attributes of the whole vehicle.
In terms of power, according to the ministry of industry and information technology, BYD SEAL is expected to be equipped with three different powertrains: single motor rear drive, single motor rear drive enhanced version and dual motor four-wheel drive version. Among them, the rear drive version adopts permanent magnet synchronous motor, the maximum power is 150kW and 230kW, and the dual-motor four-wheel drive version will be equipped with the layout of the front AC asynchronous motor and the rear permanent magnet synchronous motor, of which the front motor power is 160kW, the rear motor power is 230kW, and the acceleration time of 100 kilometers is only 3.8 seconds.
Strong parameters can sell well?
This year, you talk about how many seconds faster my car is than Tesla, how much longer my car lasts than Tesla, and it doesn't matter. Tesla has circled the label of electric vehicle intelligence around the world. Basically all domestic flagship mobile phones are more powerful than Apple in taking pictures, screen size, and full screen, but Apple still accounts for two-thirds of the global high-end mobile phone share. Why? Because Apple has several generations of self-developed processors, highly coordinated software and hardware, a huge ecosystem, and Apple is also the creator of smartphones. So in the same way, it is not surprising that tesla model 3 achieved sales of 150,000+ last year.
If you want to compete with Tesla today, if you can't catch up and surpass in the core field, it can only be a marketing slogan. To really fall into the consumer market, we still have to find differentiation, to compete for different groups of people, to find those consumers who are not satisfied with Tesla (poor workmanship, unstable quality).
BYD seals still have a chance?
First of all, as the only company in the world with both battery, motor and new energy vehicle production capacity, BYD's high vertical integration of the three-electric system is unmatched by other car companies that rely on suppliers to provide solutions. Even compared with Tesla, which is generally believed to be in the leading position of the basic technology of smart electric vehicles, it is not backward, and it also exceeds most of the multinational auto giants.
So we think that the next most likely to replicate Tesla's high share is BYD. After years of repeatedly hitting the south wall of the new energy brand building, BYD in the hearts of many consumers has almost no cheap independent brand label, including blade battery, e platform 3.0, gallium nitride power devices and a series of core technology self-research spread, to a certain extent, formed a stable cognition. Combined with BYD Han's equally high share, seals also have the possibility of making a breakthrough in the 200,000 selling range.
