Liuwei Dihuang Pill was first used in pediatrics
Initially, Liuwei Dihuang Pill was not used to treat kidney yin deficiency, but as a "juvenile kidney supplement", which was used to treat pediatric developmental delay. Chinese medicine believes that children's developmental delay is caused by insufficient kidney qi.
Liuwei Dihuang Pill was first created by Qian Yi, a famous pediatrician in the Song Dynasty, and was included in the "Pediatric Medicine Certificate Straight Recipe", originally named "Dihuang Pill". The three drugs of ripe ground yellow, yam and dogwood are combined with kidney, liver and spleen, called "three supplements"; poria, ze diarrhea, peony skin to vent kidney turbidity and fever, called "three diarrhea". Zhibai Dihuang Pill, on the basis of the six-flavor dihuang pill, added Zhimu and Huang Cedar, the effect of nourishing yin and lowering fire, used for yin deficiency fire.
Qiju Dihuang Pill, with the addition of goji berries and chrysanthemums, has the effect of nourishing the kidneys and nourishing the liver, and is used for liver and kidney yin loss.
