The calligraphy and painting are of the same origin

Peng: Teacher Xie, you are good at calligraphy, landscape and flower and bird creation, which shows the high level of your comprehensive cultivation. Whether it is The creation of Chinese painting or calligraphy, I think this is a very important research topic that contemporary ink painters cannot ignore.

SK: Thank you for your compliments. As an ink painter, his painting and calligraphy should go hand in hand, the so-called calligraphy and painting are of the same origin, and the cultivation of calligraphy is also beneficial to the improvement of painting skills and the extension of painting artistic conception.

One of the pictures of the live dialogue

Xiong: Teacher Xie has his own unique artistic insights in contemporary landscapes, classic landscapes and flower and bird paintings, if there is no profound comprehensive cultural cultivation as a support, it is difficult to have today's complex artistic style. At the same time, this is also the expression of Mr. Xie's artistic status, and it is also the practical imprint of his academic exploration process.

Zhang: Yes, you can see Teacher Xie's comprehensive quality from the picture. Teacher Xie's landscape paintings are very layered, each picture is different, people can't get tired of watching, I think this is inseparable from Teacher Xie's profound calligraphy cultivation.

The second picture of the live dialogue

Peng: In painting creation, the so-called "painting people are difficult to draw hands, painting mountains is difficult to paint trees, painting birds is difficult to draw dogs", the branches in landscape paintings are to be written out, not drawn, the lines of the branches are like writing calligraphy, if you want to present a straight, vigorous branch, I believe you can be inspired by the calligraphy lines.

Painting and calligraphy are both important components of Chinese civilization, the ancients have a saying: "calligraphy and painting have the same origin", the two originate from one place, homogeneous and different. The ancient literati attached great importance to the pursuit of pen and ink, and paid attention to highlighting the independent aesthetic value of the pen itself in painting, which coincided with the use of brushes in calligraphy art, or the brush used in painting came from the inspiration of calligraphy with pens.

The country is the people, and the people are the country

Peng: As a curator, I think that whether it is from the selection of works, scene layout or overall curatorial ideas, we should control it with the attitude of "picking bones in the egg" so as to maximize the effect of the exhibition. Only high standards and strict control can achieve the expected goals of the exhibition, and the energy spent in it is also indispensable.

Yuan: Yes, curating is like writing an article, not all the materials must be integrated into it, it should be around a central idea, the materials are deleted and eliminated, and the main line is highlighted, so as to present the best results.

The third picture of the live dialogue

Peng: Teacher Xie, your "Map of the Prosperous Rivers and Mountains" is 20 meters long and 3 meters wide, and the grand visual effects are amazing, and the "herringbone" method constitutes your unique artistic style, forming a contemporary art language, and with a certain conceptuality. Can you interpret the profound meaning of this work with us?

Xie: "The Map of the Prosperous Rivers and Mountains" I spent several years to conceive and conceive, and after several drafts, I officially started writing in 2020 until I completed the creation in 2021. In the process of creation, I have been thinking about how to embody the national spirit between the mountains and rivers, in fact, the jiangshan is the people, and the people are the jiangshan. Therefore, I creatively use the unique pen and ink of writing the word "ren" and the three people as "the crowd" to express the structure of the mountain, and in the middle of the mountain and river landform to form a huge "heart", combined with the word "crowd" all over the mountain, implying the people's "unity of purpose" and "unity of purpose".

Profound knowledge is reverent

Peng: You studied under the famous landscape painter Mr. Jia Youfu, what influence did Mr. Jia bring to you?

Xie: Mr. Jia has been studying the artistic creation of landscape painting and the theory of Chinese painting for decades, and he has gone deep into the Taihang Mountains more than 30 times to experience life and nature, forming a mysterious aesthetic style and language style of landscape painting.

Others can't throw away the details when painting Taihang Mountain, while Mr. Jia can't help but be stuck in rocks, cliffs and other landscape objects, he is beyond the objects, capturing the inner courage and charm of the landscape, which has an important enlightening effect on our creation.

Mr. Jia often teaches us that the creation of landscape painting should go all over the landscape and water, and sketching is to write the flexible charm of natural landscapes. I traveled through the Pearl River Basin over the past five years to create the "Source of the Pearl River" series, which has been of great benefit to my artistic creation.

Peng: Mr. Jia has made outstanding achievements in contemporary landscape painting, and Mr. Jia's progress from object to meteorology is a confirmation of his careful observation of nature and a reflection of his profound thoughts. I have studied a whole set of Mr. Jia's literature, and its systematic and detailed literature is awe-inspiring.

I think that it is Mr. Jia's oriental philosophical thinking that has created the breadth and grandeur of his landscape picture, others look at things and shapes, And Mr. Jia looks at qi and potential, it can be said that Mr. Jia has a good understanding of the aesthetic principle of "between similarity and dissimilarity" spoken of by Mr. Qi Baishi.

Xie: Yes, Mr. Jia's paintings have reached the realm of the soul, and it is awe-inspiring to look at his paintings. The spiritual level is the stage where many artists are practicing and exploring at present, and if they want to reach the soul realm, they need continuous accumulation and understanding.

Xie Jinhua created the second picture of "The Map of the Prosperous Rivers and Mountains"

Peng: Paintings come from people, and the improvement of their own self-cultivation will naturally be reflected in works of art. "Beyond the Three Realms, not in the Five Elements" is a profound realm beyond the form and image, in a sense, the artist is a thinker, but also a neurosis, persistent thinking will produce epiphany.

First realize your own ignorance, and then you will be in awe of the talents of others. In the same way, if you are knowledgeable, you will make others fear you during the conversation. Therefore, in the process of interacting with people, only the rich cultural connotation inside can make people feel respected. On the other hand, if one is too empty and too vain, reverence cannot be discussed.
