Apple's new patent is approved to edit 3D documents in VR with gestures

According to the Tianyancha APP, on April 1, a patent by Apple called "3D Document Editing System" was officially authorized.

The patent was filed on August 23, 2017 and published on April 16, 2019. Patent application number is CN201780052260.5, application publication number is CN109643212A, and authorization announcement number is CN109643212B.

The patent abstract shows that the present invention discloses a 3D document editing system and a graphical user interface (GUI) comprising a virtual reality and / or augmented reality device and an input device (e.g., keyboard) for detecting a sensing technique for detecting gestures made by the user.

Using the system, various parts of the document can be placed or moved to various Z depths in the 3D virtual space provided by the VR device to provide a 3D effect in the document. Sensing technology allows the user to make gestures when entering text via the keypad, allowing the user to specify 3D effects in the document while typing.

The system may also monitor entries made using the keypad, apply rules to entries to detect specific types of entries such as URLs, and automatically shift forward or backward relative to the rest of the document on the Z axis to detect the type of entries.

LEDinside observed that in addition to the above-mentioned AR-related patents, on March 1 this year, Apple's patent for "facial joints and head-mounted displays" was also granted. The patent was filed on August 7, 2020 with patent application number CN202120948373.7 and grant announcement number CN215932264U.

The patent abstract shows that the present application relates to a facial joint and a head-mounted display. This article provides a facial joint for a head-mounted display, the head-mounted display is worn on the user's head, and the facial joint includes an upper and lower part.

The upper part joins the upper facial area above the user's eyes. The lower part joins the lower facial area under the user's eyes. The lower part has lower shear compliance, and the lower shear compliance is greater than the upper shear compliance of the upper part.
