Huang Yongyu left his hometown at the age of 12, and soon after the Outbreak of the War of Resistance, he began to drift alone, "living by picking up the remnants of the roadside"; three times to retrieve his life from the bombs of the Japanese; and walking with a cabin corpse, almost caught "Zhuang Ding"...
It was in such a difficult environment that he taught himself to create woodcuts and become famous in the art world. He said: "I cultivated myself and raised myself. Pick it up while walking, knowledge or food. ”

The love story of Huang Yongyu and Zhang Meixi is an important chapter in his life. Zhang Meixi ran out of the house in order to be with him, and Huang Yongyu borrowed a bicycle from a friend and rushed all the way to Ganzhou, 60 kilometers away, to meet his girlfriend. When it gets dark, there are no quilts in the shop, only chicken feathers. The next morning, he glued a chicken feather and finally met Zhang Meixi. The two lived together for a lifetime, and in 2020, Zhang Meixi died at the age of 98.
