Sony's long-rumored new PlayStation Plus subscription service has finally been announced, allowing us to play more than 400 PS4 and PS5 games in the PS Plus's game library, as well as classic games from the PS1/PS2/PS3/PSP platform. The PS+ Premium seems to be for those who are keen on backwards compatible games. So the question is, with PS4/PS5 to play these backward compatible games, will the performance of all aspects of the game be improved?
Famitsu posed the question to PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan, asking if the PlayStation Plus subscription service would have any additional effect improvements when playing those classic old games, such as whether the game would support higher frame rates or something.
Ryan replied that more details will be announced in the future, adding: "I've heard from people who have already played these classic games, and these games look great on PS4 and PS5. But it will depend on what game you're playing.
Another problem is that regardless of whether the performance of the game is improved or not, you can't buy these old games separately, but only play them on PS5. The move seems to be similar to the Nintendo Switch Online service, where only players who subscribe to the service can play classic old games on the Switch.
The new PlayStation Plus subscription service will go live in June, so stay tuned.
