On March 29, the new energy pure electric cruise ship "Three Gorges 1" independently developed by the mainland made its maiden voyage in Yichang City, Hubei Province. This is currently the world's largest, intelligent and most advanced new energy pure electric cruise ship, is a real sense of "zero pollution, zero emission" green ship, effectively promote the mainland large pure electric ship design, manufacturing level, in the promotion of the Process of Electrification of the Yangtze River, accelerate the green and low-carbon development of inland shipping, has a positive demonstration significance.
"Three Gorges of the Yangtze River No. 1" is the result of the strategic cooperation between the Three Gorges Group and Yichang City to deeply implement the strategy of protecting the Yangtze River and promote the realization of the "double carbon" goal; it is jointly invested and built by the Hubei Three Gorges Tourism Group and the Yangtze River Power Affiliated to the Three Gorges Group of Yichang Chengfa Group, and jointly participated in the construction of famous domestic universities, research institutes and electric ship design, development and manufacturing units. The cruise ship is a high-tech ship scientific research project of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and a pilot project of the Ministry of Transport for a transportation power, and has independent intellectual property rights. The cruise ship is 100 meters long, has four floors high, and is designed to carry 1,300 passengers, with a large battery capacity, a large number of passengers, and a high level of intelligence.
According to reports, the cruise ship has overcome technical difficulties such as high-capacity battery compatibility and high-power port charging, adopted advanced DC networking control system, and pioneered the application of 10 kV high-voltage charging technology on the inland river. In terms of battery power system, "Yangtze River Three Gorges 1" has achieved localization, led by the Three Gorges Group, and jointly with China Shipbuilding Group Fenxi Heavy Industry to complete the design, research and development and integration of the entire power system. The interior of the ship is equipped with a total of 15 independent battery packs, with a total power of about 7500 kWh, equivalent to the sum of the battery capacity of more than 100 electric vehicles. The vessel uses clean hydropower to charge, which can be fully charged in 6 hours, has an endurance of 100 kilometers on a single charge, can replace 530 tons of fuel oil per year, and reduce harmful gas emissions by more than 1600 tons.
It is understood that in 2018, Yangtze River Power set up a scientific research project of "Research on Shore Power and Ship Electrification in Yangtze River Ports", and established a special working group composed of three gorges electric energy and maintenance plants to study new technologies and new formats such as ship electrification and promote electric ship projects. In 2019, Yangtze River Power signed an agreement with Yichang Transportation Group to cooperate in building electric boats. In December 2020, construction of electric boats began. In December 2021, it was successfully launched for sea trials.
After the cruise ship is put into operation, it will be mainly used for tourism routes such as two dams and one gorge, Yichang Yangtze River night tour, Three Gorges ship lift, etc., to provide leisure and entertainment, tourism and sightseeing services for passengers, and at the same time have the functions of riverside tours, high-end weddings, international academic conferences, business receptions, product launches, corporate annual meetings, variety entertainment performance shows and other activities in Yichang City.
The inaugural flight ceremony was hosted by the Three Gorges Group and the Yichang Municipal People's Government, and hosted by Yangtze River Electric Power and Hubei Three Gorges Tourism Group.
