The epidemic has disrupted many people's Spring Festival homecoming plans, and as a new energy vehicle owner, Li Mi, who works in Beijing, has to choose a "special" way to go home.

Li Mi's hometown is in Yichang, Hubei Province, and in early January, he was still planning to drive the WEILAI ES8 that he had just bought for more than 3 months to go home for the New Year, but due to the repeated epidemics in Tianjin, Henan, Beijing and other places, he had to change his itinerary.

A week before departure, on January 17, Li Mi handed over his "new car" to the consignment company to transport to Wuhan, Hubei Province, and a family of three flew from Beijing to Wuhan on January 23, and then drove back to Yichang from Wuhan.

In a special "way back to his hometown", Li Mi's family encountered many "emergencies". On the way back to Yichang from Wuhan, a number of high-speed traffic accidents caused by rainy days made them experience two sections of congestion that lasted more than 1 hour, resulting in their daughter, who was just over one year old, not having hot water to drink milk powder. After successfully getting off the highway, Li Mi's family was stopped to do nucleic acid because of the "Beijing brand", and "there was no danger along the way".

Li Mi said frankly that compared with fuel vehicles, driving a new energy vehicle home will still worry about the problem of endurance. "I have two colleagues driving fuel vehicles around the epidemic areas in Henan and driving back to their hometowns, and new energy vehicles cannot do so freely."

Li Mi was still a little worried about the car he had just bought, but with the help of car friends and relatives in Wuhan, he and his family had arrived home smoothly and lived a life of "mountains and land, cats and dogs, chickens and pigs".

Speaking of the cost of the whole process, Li Mi told Tencent Automobile that the price of a car "going home" is more expensive than the family's ticket, but he feels that it is worth it, "Calculating this plan is the most cost-effective, people are not tired, and the time is short."

At first, we wanted to drive home for the New Year, but because there was an epidemic in Tianjin some time ago, there was also an epidemic in Henan. Henan is the place we must go back home, under normal circumstances, we need to drive about 600km throughout Henan Province.

It is said that staying in medium- and high-risk areas for more than 4 hours will make the itinerary code red, so the program was cancelled.

Another plan is to detour, without going through Henan, starting from Beijing, directly to Shandong Province, around Anhui Province and then into Hubei Province, but we will have 400km more around this detour. I have two Hubei colleagues who follow this route.

But because we are new energy vehicles, it is not the same as their oil trucks, and it is not convenient for them to refuel. Although Weilai's car can be both powered and charged, it is still not convenient enough, and we have cancelled this plan.

We didn't consider the option of renting a car because we used less car during our time at home and still wanted to use a car on the road. We had about 15 days in the mountains during the holidays, and the weather conditions were mostly rainy and snowy, and there was not much time to actually use the car.

If you rent a car, it is not cost-effective to rent a car for more than 10 days, and it costs thousands of dollars to rent a car, and the car rental is risky, and your car can also be rubbed, and there will be some ridiculous things to rub against the car.

So in the end, we decided to check the car directly home and the family of three flew to Wuhan.

A checked car is more expensive than a round-trip ticket for the whole family

This is also our first time to consign vehicles, in the car friend group asked some car friends, they suggested that directly on Taobao to find it, the platform is still guaranteed, after receiving the car no problem, only to pay the consignment company.

We compared it on Taobao and found a shipping company with a relatively high cost performance. At the same time, we also calculated the cost problem, compared to Yichang, Wuhan is the capital city, if you consign vehicles directly from Beijing to Yichang, you still need to transit in Wuhan, the cost is even higher. The price of direct flight from Beijing to Yichang is 800-900 yuan for adults one way.

In the end, we decided that people and cars should go to Wuhan first, the cost of checking in the vehicle is 1800 yuan, the ticket is 310 yuan per adult, plus the cost of the child is about 1000 yuan. Driving from Wuhan to Yichang is a high-speed fee of dozens of yuan, a total of less than 3,000 yuan. Calculate that our current solution is the most cost-effective. People are not tired, the time is short, it is OK.

On January 17th, we handed the ES8 to the freight company, and on the same day, we delivered the car to a consignment starting point in Shunyi, and they drove the car onto a large board truck with fixed things, and I heard that the whole consignment was about the same as the bumpiness of my own car.

So we put some wine in the car for friends and family, and some things we wanted to take home, and the wine itself was also packaged with foam, and we didn't particularly worry about it.

However, the consignment company did say that if there is something damaged in the car, we think that the probability is relatively small, so we bet on it, and the probability of success of the bet is very large. Actually we didn't have any problems after we collected the car.

So this ES8 was checked off from Beijing to Wuhan earlier than we did, and we asked a relative or friend in Wuhan to help pick up the car.

Our family of three flew to Wuhan on the morning of January 23, relatives and friends drove to the airport to pick up, and the car was successfully delivered at about 12 o'clock. We had lunch in Wuhan that day and got glasses.

At 3:30 p.m. officially set off to Yichang to catch the road, the distance is about 300 kilometers, in Wuhan when the mileage is still more than 100 kilometers, we ran more than 60 kilometers to Xiantao has a replacement power station, to change a 100 degree battery, close to full power departure, so the road did not worry about the endurance problem.

Wuhan to Yichang is just the Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway, Weilai has been fully opened on this highway, about every 100 kilometers there is a power station, and this year the number of returnees is relatively small, may also be relatively early, the number of people to change the electricity is relatively small, it is relatively convenient.

However, there was rain in Wuhan that day, so the road was more congested than we thought, and it took longer. The congestion encountered this time was mainly rain driving accidents, not because of the problem of heavy traffic back home.

On rainy days, we encountered four or five traffic accidents on high-speed driving, which were blocked for 1 hour in the afternoon and blocked on the Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway for 1 hour at about 7:40 pm.

But we encountered an unexpected problem, the congestion time was too long, resulting in not too much hot water on the road, the baby's milk powder water was gone, had to take the cup and knock on the window one by one, fortunately, a big brother poured us a cup of hot water.

At that time, we were stuck on the road, more than 90 kilometers away from the next service area, and the blockage could not move, but in fact, we still had 100 kilometers left to get home, and the baby kept crying. All the way blocked, finally our self-driving process lasted 7 hours and finally arrived at the high-speed exit of Yichang Bridge North at 10:30 pm, and finally arrived home.

After getting off the highway, some staff members saw that our license plate was from Beijing, so they arrested us for registration and did nucleic acid. The whole process is only at the high-speed exit place with epidemic prevention and inspection.

We had also reported to the community in our hometown before, and they all knew that we were returning home. We live in Changping District in Beijing, and there is no medium- to high-risk area, so we only need to provide nucleic acid for 48 hours when we return to our hometown, and then we have to do nucleic acid again after we go local, and do it twice on day 7 and 14.

Now the plan for the return trip has not yet been decided, mainly depending on the development of the epidemic, if there is no case in the city before returning to Beijing, it is better to say; if there is a case in the city, it may become a problem to return to Kyoto, anyway, first go back to the hometown and then say, then plan again.

Our company management is also more humane, we both have computers, you can also work from home, the holiday has a total of 17 days, it is relatively long, you can see the follow-up development of the epidemic.

On the day we went home, we used a free battery change, and the next day we went back to our hometown in the mountains and lived a life of mountains and land, cats and dogs, chickens and pigs.

It snowed during the day on January 25th and had a great view of the rime. During the Spring Festival, we don't have many opportunities to use the car, and the weather is relatively wet and slippery and not suitable for driving.

Back in the mountains, we also tried the way of home charging, the air conditioning socket of the home was slow charged, at that time the vehicle still had 48% of the power, and the system showed that it took 15 hours and 28 minutes to fully charge. Anyway, there is nothing to do, just charge slowly.

This car we just bought in September 2021, the new ES8. This is not the first time we have driven a new energy vehicle for a long distance, in fact, just after picking up the car in September last year, we drove back to our hometown on National Day.

At that time, there was no queue for the high-speed power station, and our experience was not bad, because each station of weilai power station could only change the power of one car at the same time, and if there were three or four queues, we had to wait.

But there is a problem, the car I bought is a 100-degree battery, many first-generation replacement power stations have less 100-degree batteries, and the ratio to 70-degree batteries is generally 1:5.

During the National Day, we once saw the status of the replacement power station on the road, but when we drove to the 100-degree battery, it was replaced, and we could only wait for the new 100-degree battery to be fully charged, or go to the charging pile to charge it ourselves. Anyway, I do feel that new energy vehicles are not convenient for fuel vehicles to supplement energy.

At home in Beijing, we also did not install home piles, because the free replacement of electricity 6 times a month can still meet the demand, and if you install your own pile to charge, you will have to pay for it yourself, so it has not been considered for the time being.

At that time, when buying this car, first of all, it must be that the car should be larger, and after having children, it will take 5-6 people to sit, and 5 seats of cars are not considered, we will have at least 6 seats. The company has a lot of colleagues who have done a lot of research on cars and recommended this brand to us.

Usually we mainly use cars in Beijing, and the energy supplement measures are still more convenient, so we went to test drive, and after the test drive, we directly fixed it, and there was no excessive horizontal comparison of other brands of cars. There are long-distance travel arrangements for the New Year's Festival or weekends, so we chose a large battery pack.

In fact, we use it in Beijing for daily driving, and the actual experience is that it is only enough to change the electricity for free 6 times a month in the winter, and it may be richer in the summer.

Because we commute more than 50 kilometers a day to work, the winter endurance discount may be 40% off. The official data of the ES8 full charge of the 100-degree battery is 580km, but the actual use in winter is 350km.

The battery of the replacement power station will not be full, generally charged to 92% or 93%, and the battery you change to the hand is not fully charged, and the charging power will also be discounted by 9%. In addition, the battery will also have battery attenuation, although the official said that the battery attenuation of the replacement power station will not exceed 10%, but the mileage that can be used after each power change in the winter is actually less than 350km.

Usually when I use the car, I can't use the photoelectric to change the power station, so the 6 times a month to change the power is just right, and it is a little nervous.

Although new energy vehicles have the problem of winter battery life discounts, weilai's battery attenuation is not like the situation where some mobile phone batteries suddenly drop from 20% to 4%, and it is relatively smooth. Every time you go to change the power, the system will have a comprehensive inspection of the battery and circuit, and if there is a functional problem, it will be repaired and maintained.

Now my concern about new energy vehicles is still the problem of energy replenishment, Weilai is still better, you can change the power, other new energy vehicles can only be charged. Beijing long-distance use is certainly not as convenient as the oil car, according to my understanding, new energy vehicles are still the trend, this kind of energy supplementary experience will definitely be more and more year by year, which is also what our car owners are looking forward to.
