Recently, I re-read this time, there are several texts, I feel that all versions, including the Kojimoto, have inherent literary discord and logical incoherence, and it is suspected that there is a problem of text shedding. Let's take a look at these suspected problematic texts.

First, the first text suspected of falling off

Yingchun's Yatou Siqi and Tanchun's Yatou Shu were pulling out the curtain, both holding tea plates and tea bells in their hands, and Zhou Rui's family knew that his sister was sitting in one place, so they entered the inner room, only to see Yingchun Tanchun and the two were playing Go under the window, and Zhou Rui's family sent flowers to explain the reason. The two of them were busy with chess, and they both owed thanks (originally mistaken for "Xie Dao"), and ordered the servants to accept it.

Although there are certain subtle differences in the text of the various versions of this quotation, the basic content and meaning are the same. Among them, the sentence "Zhou Rui's family agreed" is not in the village in front and not in the shop, which is very abrupt. Text loss is suspected.

Although the word "promise" is a polysemantic word, each meaning is not appropriately used here. In fact, this word is a common word in the book, and the most commonly used meaning in the book is the meaning of "agree, promise".

In fact, there are many similar examples. Carefully studying these examples, we can infer that before the sentence : "Zhou Rui's family agreed", a sentence should be shed, and the basic content of this sentence should be Yingchun and Tanchun to explain to Zhou Rui's family to do something, and then Zhou Rui's family agreed.

Based on the content of the text before and after, I initially believe that the general content of this detached sentence is: "I also ask the Zhou Rui family to thank you on your behalf." "The reasons are as follows:

First, the palace flowers received by Yingchun and Tanchun were gifted by Aunt Xue, and Zhou Rui's family only ran errands, and from the point of view of etiquette, in addition to saying hard work to Zhou Rui's family, it was even more necessary to thank Aunt Xue.

This is a common etiquette in the book, such as in the 37th time, the raider sent Song's mother to send Fresh Fruit and pastries to Shi Xiangyun, and Song's mother also conveyed Shi Xiangyun's gratitude to Baoyu and the raider after her return.

Second, when Zhou Rui's family sent flowers to Feng Jie and Lin Daiyu, both of them had similar words.

Among them, the sentence "Still being laughed at to death" would be better if it was done as "I am not laughed at and died". Although we can barely know the meaning of the phrase "I was still laughed at to death", the sentence itself is not in line with the usual expression habits, and it is awkward to read. And the expression "not yet laughed at to death" is much more natural and smoother without changing the basic meaning.

If we often read the lipid manuscripts, we will find an interesting phenomenon, one of the most frequent problematic words in the manuscripts is this "no" word, often this version has it and that version does not have it, or it should be lacking at times, often confusing people.

The word "no" itself is also very magical, sometimes it means negative, which means the opposite of "no" and no "no"; sometimes, "no" only means an accentuated tone, and there is no substantial difference in the basic meaning of "no" and "no", but the degree of tone is different, or the language habits are different.

Therefore, when proofreading the word "no", we must try to do two things as much as possible: first, we must combine the context of the literature and logic, accurately grasp the exact meaning of the sentence, and cannot interpret the opposite; second, we must grasp the tone and language habits of the sentence.

Why does this article think that "still being laughed at to death" is not as good as "not being laughed at to death"? This is not to say that there is a substantial difference in the meaning of the two, but that the former does not seem to fit the language habits in this sentence pattern and is not a real language.

This is a negative sentence form, and if it is replaced with an affirmative sentence with the same meaning, is it not enough to simply remove the word "no"? Obviously not.

If we just remove the word "no", the sentence becomes "no time, still hurry up", which is obviously not the language expression we are accustomed to; and a better way of expression is "no time, hurry up".

Of course, China has a vast territory and a certain time interval, and the language problem itself is very complicated. The above opinion is only my opinion, and it is entirely possible that my cognition is too narrow.

Regarding the sentence "I was still laughed at to death", there is a different text in the fat book, and the sentence on the Kotatsu ben is "I was also killed by your joke". The meaning of this sentence on the Jiachen ben just expressed the opposite: originally It was You Shi who ridiculed Wang Xifeng, saying that Wang Xifeng would be laughed at by Qin Zhong, and the Jia Chen Ben became You Shi worried about Wang Xifeng laughing at Qin Zhong.

We know that the base of Cheng Gaoben and the Jiachen Ben are close to the same branch, and the text here, the text of the Cheng Jia Ben is roughly the same as the Jia Chen Ben, as "I want to be killed by your jokes", which also belongs to Zhang Guan Li Dai. Therefore, I personally have always been not advocating that first-time readers read Cheng Gaoben.

Third, the third text suspected of falling off

Baoyu and Qin Zhong sat up casually and talked, and when Baoyu saw Qin Zhong, his heart was lost. After being stupid for half a day, he was dumbfounded in his heart again, but he thought to himself, "There are such people in the world!" Now it seems that I have become a mud pig leper dog. I hate why I was born in this Houmen Gongfu family, if I was also born in the house of The Humble Eunuch, I would have been friends with him earlier, and I would not have been born in vain. Although I am so more honorable than him, I know that Aya Nishiki Sarong has only wrapped me in this dead wood, and the wine lamb has only filled the mud ditch of my dung cave. The word 'rich' was unexpectedly poisoned by me. (See the seventh time in the Book of Stones)

The eight words "I am so more honorable than him" in the quotation, if understood as a complete sentence, should be the upper sentence of a compound sentence of a transition relationship, and the next sentence should be a word indicating a transition relationship.

And "I know that Aya Nishiki Sarong has only wrapped me in this dead wood, and the wine lamb has only filled my dung cave mud ditch" is a conclusive sentence, and obviously cannot form a compound sentence with "I am so more honorable than him".

At present, the collation books I have seen, such as the Humanities Society, Mr. Cai Yijiang's schoolbook, Mr. Zheng Qingshan's schoolbook, And Mr. Deng Suifu's schoolbook, all cut off "although I am so more honorable than him" as a sentence. Such a sentence break is problematic.

The words "Although I am so richer than him", there are also different texts in various editions, such as the Russian Tibetan version and the Yang Tibetan version are written as "If I am so more honorable than him", I don't know what to do, Mr. Zhou Ruchang's school book is from it; Jia Chen Ben and Cheng Jia Ben are "Although I am more honorable than him".

Cheng Yiben modified the whole sentence and changed it to: "Although I am more honorable than him, the Aya Brocade Sarong is only wrapped in my dead trees; the lamb wine is only filling the mud ditch of my dung cave." Cheng Yiben completely transformed the compound sentence of this transition relationship, at least the internal logic was smooth.

In The two books of Cheng Gaoben, Cheng Jiaben generally preserved the appearance of the Jiachen system and inherited many problems; Cheng Yiben made great changes, realized and tried to solve many discordant writing problems in Cheng Jiaben.

Compared with Cheng Jiaben, Cheng Yiben can better represent the true literary appreciation and proofreading level of Cheng Weiyuan and Gao Yan. Cheng Yiben's transformation of this sentence is a contribution to the improvement of the text of "Dream of the Red Chamber". However, the text here in Cheng Yiben is a change of writing after all, not the original appearance of Cao Xueqin's text.

There are two solutions to the phrase "I am so more noble than him": one is to cut it into two sentences, that is, "I am more noble than him." In this way, in these eight words, a turning compound sentence is formed. "Even so" refers to Baoyu compared with Qin Zhong, ashamed of himself, becoming a "mud pig leper dog".

The second option is to add a word "anti" or "but" as follows: "Even so, I am more honorable than him." ”

I personally prefer the second option. In the second scheme, the sentence form is more complete, the meaning is clearer, and the expression is more fluent. Therefore, I personally tend to think that a word such as "anti" or "but" is dropped from the original text.

Regarding the seventh text, in addition to the above three suspected problems of text shedding common to each version, there is also a text, which is suspected that each version has the problem of reversing the order, and this article also writes it out in passing for readers and friends to refer to.

However, there seems to be something wrong with the logic of this sentence: "one" is said by Jia Mu, and "two rules" is not said by Jia Mu. This is true for all versions. I deduce that the original base may have mistakenly copied "one because of the grandmother's saying" as "the family grandmother said one".

The proposal was adjusted to: "One is because my grandmother said that there are too many children in the family school, and I am afraid that everyone will be naughty, but it is not good; second, because I have been ill for a few days, I am temporarily delayed." ”

The text research of "Dream of the Red Chamber" is highly dangerous, and from ancient times to the present, we can always find many cases that think that the text is wrong and finally understand it wrong. Many versions of "Dream of the Red Chamber" are also formed in this way. I think I'm no exception.

But this should not prevent us from boldly conducting pioneering research on texts for two reasons: first, reading books primarily for ourselves to gain the right understanding, and if our views are corrected, it is a very fortunate thing, much better than not knowing how to pretend to understand and deceiving ourselves; and second, in case there is a certain amount of merit, it is also a little contribution.
