South Sea cowhide drum making technique
Lingnan cultural city of Foshan, profound cultural heritage, rich and colorful folk activities, prevailing dragon lion, dragon boat culture, in the South China Sea Lion Mountain area, has preserved the centuries-old "lion festival" folk customs.
Whether it is a dragon and lion dance, or a dragon boat race, there is an instrument that is indispensable, that is, the cowhide drum. The cowhide drum is an ancient traditional musical instrument and an indispensable part of traditional culture.

Nanhai District Shishan Town Yanfeng Community Qishan Village, has a long history of cowhide drum production, is the leader in the Foshan cowhide drum production industry, has produced industrial agglomeration, the formation of mature production technology, as early as the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the people has been exported abroad, recognized by the masses, very representative.
The cowhide drums produced here are famous far and wide, and its drum skin treatment technology is particularly superb, and even the famous state-owned old factory "Guangzhou Zhongyu Drum Music Factory" has long outsourced the production of drum skins to Qishan Village. The whole cowhide drum production technology can be summarized as "drum skin, drum body, skin, coloring" four parts, the use of materials is exquisite, the production process is extremely testing craftsmanship.

With the change of the times, the industry gradually declined, and now the inheritance of Qishan Village is only Ye Jingxun, who runs the Hesheng Awakening Lion Appliance Co., Ltd. Ye Jingxun's family adopts the traditional techniques of Qishan Village to make drums, and the products include lion drums, tang drums, dragon boat drums, dragon standard drums, timpani drums, etc., which are sold all over the world.
South Sea paper cuts
Paper-cutting art has a long history in the mainland, as early as the Qing Dynasty, the South China Sea Lion Mountain Garden has specialized in paper-cutting workshops.
In ancient times, the villagers of Dapu in Shishan Had the custom of making sacrifices and praying for blessings during the new year, and they needed to use paper-cut sacrifices. Qing Daoguang's "Nanhai County Chronicle" records: "On the middle of the Yuan Dynasty, those who are confused by the Buddha or for the Obon Society, cut paper for clothes, and sacrifice to the ancestral shrine... The demand for people in Dapu is extremely large, so the paper-cutting industry has emerged.
By the Qing Dynasty, the paper-cutting industry in Shishan Dapu became more and more prosperous. According to Qing Daoguang's "Chronicle of Nanhai County", at that time, There were two markets in Dapu Fort( Yanfeng Market) and Xingxian City. According to the "Ye Zhengjian Family Tree", Yan Feng Market has more than 100 shops such as wineries, dye shops, tea houses, gold and silver shops, pawn shops, etc. at most, and there are countless villagers who set up stalls on the market day.
South China Sea paper-cutting is mainly based on solid color paper-cutting, lining paper-cutting, using scissors, carving knives, chisels, bamboo sticks, wooden hammers and other tools, using cutting, carving, chiseling, lining and other techniques, the process can be roughly divided into design, cutting, mounting three steps.
With the change of the times, the industry gradually declined, and now the paper-cutting inheritance of the Shishan Garden is only zhang jinquan, a villager in zhangbiannan.

Zhang Jinquan's paper-cutting skills are family heirlooms and have been passed down for more than 100 years. During the Qing Guangxu period, Ye Jiao, who was engaged in paper-cutting in her mother's family, married into the Zhang clan and opened the inheritance of the Zhang clan, and she instructed her descendants that no matter whether the situation was good or bad, they must pass on the craft of paper-cutting to make a living. His son Zhang Wei'an and daughter-in-law Zou Wei inherited the craft, and later passed it on to his daughter Zhang Erzai, who passed it on to his nephew Zhang Jinquan.
Today, Zhang Jinquan not only sells his paper-cut works to the nearby market, but also exports them to Shanghai, Wuhan, Hong Kong and Macao, Singapore, Russia and other domestic and foreign regions, which are widely praised.
All along, Shishan attaches great importance to promoting the inheritance and development of local traditional culture and skills, and actively declares intangible cultural heritage, so that local culture can be better inherited and protected, so that intangible cultural heritage can be more vital in modern life, and help Shishan intangible cultural heritage to "go out of the circle".
