He believes that if Apple can release 12.9-inch and 11-inch OLED iPads in 2024, then the MacBook will use OLED as early as 2025 (and so on).

IT House reported that last November, Digitimes gave a supply chain report showing that the first MacBook with an OLED screen had been delayed. Apple allegedly planned to introduce this display technology into the MacBook lineup in 2025, a year after the rumored OLED version of the iPad.

The report notes that there are some problems with the more sophisticated display technology required for laptops, and Apple is struggling to control costs.

Previously, it was reported that for technical reasons, Apple has canceled the OLED display of the 2022 iPad Air. Now, for similar reasons, the OLED version of MacBook Pro is being gradually postponed from 2025.

From the current situation, Apple is slowly transitioning its product line from old panels to the latest display technology, LCD> OLED/ miniLED> microLED.

At present, the old Mac series and inexpensive iPhone still use the traditional backlit IPS LCD screen. And Apple later from Apple Watch to iPhone X began to promote OLED technology, as well as the latest iPad Pro and MacBook Pro using the mini LED backlit IPS panel, it is expected that Apple's product line will gradually replace the new technology.

Apple hasn't used miniLED in the iPad or MacBook series yet, but the industry expects Apple to realize that vision sometime in 2023-2026.

There are also microLED, which is currently hailed as the ultimate goal. In simple terms, miniLED belongs to LCD technology, while microLED is a more complex version of OLED, which has brighter and more energy-saving characteristics, and perfectly overcomes the OLED burn-screen phenomenon.
