Suzuki, which used to be famous in the off-road vehicle industry as Vitra (Jixing ESCUDO), has evolved from a purebred off-road vehicle to an urban cross-border SUV after three generations of evolution, but the strong physique that should be there has not been lost, and it looks unique in a small SUV with urban style. In order to cater to the development of global electrification, Vitra has also deployed 48VHYBRID light oil and electricity technology to achieve the dual advantages of energy saving and performance of urban crossovers. This also makes Suzuki the only Japanese car brand that uses 48V light oil and electricity technology in large quantities, which is definitely a big blessing for buyers who can bring touching pleasure to internal combustion power and want to try the fuel-saving advantages brought by new technologies.

Suzuki's own research and development SHVS (SmartHYBRIDVehicleby Suzuki) intelligent hybrid, through the 48VISG integrated start-up motor generator, combined with the familiar 1.4LBOOSTERJET cylinder direct injection turbocharged engine (has been installed in its own performance coupe SWIFT sports HYBRID), the maximum horsepower can output 129.9ps/5500 rpm, the maximum torque is 23.9kgm/2000 rpm, The fuel consumption performance of the S model is as high as 19.3km/L! The 1.4-liter K14DBOOSTERJET engine mounted on the Vitra HYBRID was developed in the spirit of Suzuki's weight reduction and size reduction, increasing responsiveness and smooth power output.
A new electric variable valve timing (VVT) system is featured on the suction side along with a newly designed fuel injector and high-pressure fuel pump that provides fuel injection pressures up to 360 bar, while the exhaust camshaft side is controlled by conventional hydraulic VVT actuators. The dual VVT system also improves performance by constantly changing the suction and exhaust valve timing to suit engine operating conditions than in the past, and the electric motor-driven suction VVT has the characteristic of changing the timing phase more smoothly, regardless of engine oil temperature and speed. The combined effect of the two VVTs results in optimal engine power output, improved fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions (up to 20% lower than the previous K14C engine).
And providing the same level of horsepower and torque output as the naturally aspirated engine (2.0 liters) with a larger exhaust capacity, while by controlling the exhaust valve, closing during heavy load operation to generate higher boost pressure (like pinching a water pipe to accelerate the flow rate) and remaining open during normal driving, the BOOSTERJET system as a whole reduces pumping losses, resulting in a high level of power output and fuel efficiency. Air bypass valves are also used to prevent the turbine from losing pressure after the throttle valve is closed and then quickly reopened.
The newly developed 48V hybrid powertrain in the design and components of the added vehicle weight is less than 15 kg, and the new system with a higher output of 10KW consists of a 48V lithium-ion battery, an integrated starter generator (called ISG) and a 48V12V (DC/DC) converter that can be used for components that require lower voltages (including lighting and sound... etc.) power supply. The ISG can be used both as a generator and as a starting motor, driven by a belt and assisted by a petrol engine during the start-up of the vehicle to provide higher torque, which can provide 23.9 kgm of torque from 2000 to 3000 rpm.
The compact, high-performance lithium-ion battery storage recovers kinetic energy from taxiing and braking, and features an idle stop function that initiates generator operation via ISG integration. The battery, along with the DC/DC converter unit, is located under the front seats to optimize the weight distribution of the vehicle. The 48V system also features torque fill control and lifting.
These features can add torque from the ISG electric motor to the engine torque during acceleration based on engine speed and throttle position to enhance the sense of driving speed accumulation. The overall test drive process can be felt, and when the accelerator is quickly re-pressed, the ISG motor can provide additional torque to the gasoline engine carrier without delay, and the process can be said to be quite sensible, even if the engine is within two thousand revolutions, including the start.
Even though the K14D engine's BOOSTERJET turbochargers are fully supercharged from 2000 rpm, the torque boost is still beneficial at lower revs to each other, as the 48V system very sensibly helps to optimize the overall torque curve and provides smoother acceleration when starting at full throttle from rest.
Even to 4000 rpm is still very accelerated, and the configuration of the six-speed automatic transmission shift is quite fast, between the first three gears, not only between 2000 and 4000 rpm can get the maximum power output, even the momentary acceleration momentum during intense driving is better than the traditional gasoline version, and almost no gear shift vibration is felt, and also equipped with a practical and fun steering wheel paddle.
Another efficiency advantage of the new 48V hybrid system is the clutch separation function, which enables the introduction of electric motor operation at speeds below about 80 km/h. This function essentially replaces part of the fuel injection with the power provided by the electric motor, but still controls and keeps the engine on standby when the vehicle is slowing down and stationary.
This feature therefore eliminates fuel consumption in these conditions, as engine power is electrically controlled by the ISG unit, ready to restart acceleration based on the driving throttle depth control, and restarts the engine without delay, even when restarting is almost imperceptible to detect any vibration.
The Vitra HYBRID continues the hard-hitting style of the iV4 concept car, and Vitra expresses Suzuki's SUV styling tradition with a strong exterior design. The clamshell hood (an iconic design element of the Vitra model) makes the front end look tough, and the trapezoidal front bumper shows a strong grip.
The apparent curves of the body and the pattern of the side shutters on the side of the hair hood are more reminiscent of the first generation of Vitra in 1988. Suzuki's pursuit of good aerodynamics is reflected in the optimally designed bumper, the roof line that slopes smoothly and slightly downwards to the rear, the flat underbody surface, and the specially shaped rearview mirrors based on the results of airflow analysis.
The new LED headlights with blue trim are now also integrated into the entire range of this new hybrid model, which is a design after the 2019 modifications, and also includes the redesigned grille, bumper dam and redesigned all-red stereoscopic taillights with a unique LED large-area display, and the integration of rear fog lights as the visual focus, the overall modification makes Vitra's original wildness more refined. In addition, the HYBRID logo at the rear of the car is also an important symbol that can immediately identify its identity.
Vitra HYBRID emphasizes people-oriented, does not need unnecessary gorgeous design, and can make people quickly get started is the core of its design. In particular, the 4.2-inch multi-function driving information display in the center of the driving instrument has added an interface for the oil and electricity system, which allows the owner to quickly understand the operation of the oil and electricity system, which includes three displays: pure internal combustion, kinetic energy recovery and electric drive force assistance. In addition, in view of the fact that the Vitra HYBRID is still a small SUV with great driving pleasure, it is also specially equipped with Alcantara suede/leather mix-and-match seats (Alcantara is also used in the inner door panel), and there is a certain level of workmanship and coverage.
What's more, the friction of Alcantara can firmly grasp the body when cornering, fully bringing driving safety and enjoying the highest driving pleasure. The design of the Alcantara diamond check makes the atmosphere inside the car look more sporty, and it is also one of the purposes. As for the load space that must be considered when buying an SUV, The Vitra HYBRID did not affect the trunk space due to the addition of the oil and electricity system, and also maintained the 375-liter level unchanged, while having a 6/4 separation design. In addition to removing the partition to increase the depth, the rear half can also be removed to obtain a wider storage space by removing the dividers on both sides, and can accommodate up to two 9.5-inch golf equipment horizontally.
And there's also a small storage space on both sides, hooks, and a special power supply for the trunk... and so on. Regarding driving safety, the Suzuki Safesport system used by Vitra HYBRID has a rich range of functions, including DSBS dual perceptron brake assist system, ACC active cruise control, LDW lane offset warning system, BSM blind spot detection system and RCTA rear traffic warning system... And so on. Among them, the DSBS DualSensorBrakeSupport is standard in the entire car system, using DSBS, at a speed of about 5 to 100 kilometers per hour, if the system determines that there is a risk of collision with the obstacle in front, it will issue an audio and visual warning.
If it is determined that the risk of collision with an obstacle in front is higher and the driver brakes urgently, the system automatically deploys brake assist to increase braking force. If the risk of collisions increases further, the system even applies fully automatic braking to avoid collisions. The full-speed domain ACC is also standard on all Vetra models.
Adaptive Cruise Control uses millimeter-wave radar to measure the distance to it when there is a vehicle in front of it and automatically maintains the distance from the vehicle in front of it according to three settings. When there is no vehicle in front of you, the system will set the speed according to the driving speed, and if allowed, the speed can be maintained at 40 to 160 kilometers per hour.
The full-speed domain stop-and-go function makes Vitra quite convenient and practical, it will automatically slow down to a standstill with gentle braking force, and then automatically restart if the vehicle in front of it takes off and drives away within 2 seconds. As for the LDW lane departure warning part, it will be activated at a speed of more than 60 kilometers per hour, as long as the system detects the deviation from the lane, the steering wheel will vibrate immediately, and the dashboard will also appear warning lights and words to remind the driver.
In order to meet the challenges of harsh road surfaces, the Vitra HYBRID series also adopts the world-wide HEALTECH high-rigidity body structure, combined with off-road capabilities to strengthen the front McPherson, rear drag arm with front and rear anti-roll bars, emphasizing that Vitra's driving experience is quite European car's walking style.
Even the elevated ground-off-site design corresponding to mild off-road does not affect the cornering performance at all, and it is difficult to have a serious roll even if the high-speed and intense cornering is difficult, and the sports suspension setting and the high rigidity of the body have played a role. Vitra HYBRID is a small SUV with the essence of an SUV, which can travel in the city, can also boldly explore nature, and even for the off-road needs of different car owners, it also provides a VETRA ALLGRIP all-wheel drive model, allowing the whole family to experience a colorful new LOHAS life.
