Electric vehicles set off a wave of price increases

Raw material costs are rising

Baichuan Yingfu data show that from March 4 to March 10, the domestic industrial-grade lithium carbonate price rose to about 497,500 yuan / ton, and the price of battery-grade lithium carbonate rose to 517,500 yuan / ton, an increase of more than 80% compared with the price at the beginning of the year; the price of battery-grade lithium hydroxide rose to 481,900 yuan / ton, an increase of more than 570% year-on-year.

In addition to the soaring price of lithium salts, the recent sharp fluctuations in nickel prices have made car companies worse. According to the research report of CICC, the price of Lun nickel rose from 20,000 US dollars / ton to 50,000 US dollars / ton, and the cost of nickel raw materials for 8 series new energy vehicles with 60 kwh of single vehicles with 60 kwh (new energy vehicles with 811 type ternary batteries on a single vehicle with 60 kwh of 811 type ternary batteries) increased by about 10,000 yuan. A number of NPC deputies and CPPCC members stressed the importance of ensuring the production of raw materials for new energy vehicles such as lithium in the bills and proposals of the two sessions this year. Zeng Yuqun, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairman of the Ningde Times, said that lithium resources are the core raw materials of lithium batteries, and it is of strategic significance to grasp the supply guarantee of lithium battery primary products. At present, the supply and demand situation of lithium resources is grim, and the development of the industry is facing challenges.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently said that it will focus on meeting the production needs of power batteries, moderately accelerate the development progress of domestic lithium resources, and crack down on unfair competition such as hoarding and price gouging. At the same time, improve the power battery recycling system, support efficient dismantling, recycling and other technical research, and continuously improve the recycling rate and resource utilization efficiency.

Zeng Yuqun suggested that we should accelerate the exploration and development of domestic lithium resources to ensure the security of the supply chain; at the same time, strengthen independent innovation and scientific and technological research, and improve the level of efficient utilization of resource recycling.

Jiang Weiping, deputy to the National People's Congress and chairman of Tianqi Lithium, suggested that the green development of lithium ore resources in western Sichuan should be accelerated. Specifically, strengthen the construction of infrastructure in mining areas, ensure production and living factors such as roads and water and electricity, enhance the attractiveness and participation of mining area development, introduce enterprises with higher mining capacity and processing capacity, and promote the development and utilization of mineral resources with high quality.

Yin Tongyue, deputy to the National People's Congress and chairman of Chery Automobile, suggested that the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other departments formulate policies to incorporate new energy power battery materials into the management of national strategic reserve resources, set up special funds, support and encourage domestic enterprises to acquire foreign battery material resources, and ensure the safety of the new energy vehicle supply chain.
