This is the CKD version of the KTM 790 Adventure, the so-called 790 ADV version, priced at 107,600 yuan. It also has a brother dei, 790 ADV R version, priced at 119,800 yuan.
The two are also easy to distinguish, the general version can be regarded as the "most off-road capable station wagon", the R version is the "most travelable off-road vehicle", but the current R version (CKD version) is still not delivered.
The KTM 790 ADV does not have the "high-headed horse" posture of the traditional ADV model, and the 20L large-capacity fuel tank runs almost through the upper and lower body sides. In the words of "car critics", this design has better maneuverability, more convenient center of gravity transfer when off-road, better comfort and free movement space...
But it seems a bit vain to say so, the most direct feeling is that the center of gravity of the 790 ADV is really low, when the feet land on the ground, the weight of the car under the crotch is very small, coupled with only 210kg of curb weight, which is very different from the center of gravity of the conventional ADV with a large fuel tank.
In terms of seat height, the general version of the seat cushion provides 805mm, 825mm adjustable two-speed (R version is 880mm), coupled with the narrow design of the front section of the cushion and the lighter weight, the 175cm tall knight is not difficult to land on both feet.
However, the 790 ADV Version also reduced the seat height after CKD localization production, at the cost of reducing the travel of the front WP APEX 43mm shock absorber to the rear APEX PDS (Progressive Damping System) monocular oil pressure shock absorber from 200mm to 175mm.
The front shock absorber preload and damping are not adjustable, coupled with more road-oriented tuning, can indeed alleviate the impact of bumpy roads, but also break the idea of off-road flying slopes. When braking sharply, due to the lack of support in the middle and rear sections of the front shock absorber, the nod brought by it is not very friendly.
Powerly, the LC8c engine with an actual displacement of 799cc can provide a maximum power of 95.2Ps, the peak torque has reached 87N·m, and the acceleration time of 0-100km/h is 3.8s, and it can accelerate to more than 170km/h in early 12 seconds.
Power will have a significant burst after 4000rpm and can extend all the way to the red zone, with better low-torsion performance than the 790 Duke. As an upright ADV, you need to lower your body and firmly grasp the handlebars when the throttle is fully open.
This smooth and on-call power also features MTC Traction Control, MSR Engine Drag Torque Control, and three driving modes: street, rain or off road.
On the road, the 790 ADV really doesn't look like an ADV to ride, and the combination of the front 21 inches + rear 18 inches of rim does not affect the sportiness of road driving too much, especially the brisk dumping feeling when entering the corner, and the riding feeling of "sending" to the bend, which is very close to a KTM street car.
Taken together, the CKD version of the 790 ADV is more road-driven, and this car is like a Toyota Prado, suitable for road travel, smooth and reliable, with an official maintenance interval of 15,000 kilometers. However, as long as you enter the non-paved road, you can still feel its strong crossing ability and playability.
