According to the Daily Star on February 26, Prince Harry and Meghan's luxury villa in California recently need to pay an annual housing tax of up to 100,000 pounds (about 850,000 yuan). But as of now, the couple has not paid the fee and may be interested in selling the villa.
Since Harry and Meghan announced their retirement from the royal family in 2020, they have built a nine-room villa in Montessy, California, equipped with a private gym, guest rooms, a private beauty salon, a home cinema, offices, and a playground for kids. There are also uniquely designed gardens and courtyards within the villa.
Their neighbors include American celebrities such as ellen DeGeneres, the famous host of the Ellen Show.
At that time, the market price of the house was expected to be around 1150 pounds, equivalent to about 97 million yuan, rounding to 100 million.
It is reported that in the previous tax year alone, Prince Harry and Meghan will pay a huge amount of house tax taxes of up to 100,000 pounds for their mansions in California, converted into about 850,000 yuan, almost double the previous estimates of property experts.
This tax will be paid in two installments. The first payment was made in December last year, and the second was paid on February 1 this year. But people familiar with the matter said that Prince Harry and Meghan have not yet paid the first fee, although these fees should be a piece of cake for them.
Under California law, Prince Harry will be required to pay an additional 10 percent fine if he or she has not paid taxes as of April 1 this year.
Last month, it was revealed that Harry and Meghan were considering replacing the property and hoping to sell the current villa. It was previously reported that the bird sanctuary near the villa emitted a foul odor, causing them to have the idea of moving.
