Recently, Tesla confirmed through its official website that the Model S and Model X produced from mid-February 2022 will no longer be equipped with radar, and all driver assistance systems will completely rely on a set of 8 cameras, called "Tesla Vision". As early as last May, Tesla took the lead in applying the system on the Model 3 and Model Y sold in the United States and Canada. While the National Road Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Highway Safety Insurance Association (IIHS) have since questioned the system's functionality and safety and tested new vehicles, vehicles equipped with the new system have now passed all tests except forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking.

However, compared with the previous Autopilot and FSD systems, the new radar-free car is still adjusted for a few functions. For example, the speed limit of the Autosteer function (Autosteer) has been reduced to 128km/h, and the adaptive cruise has a longer following distance than the radar-equipped model. In response, Tesla also released a statement on its official website: "In the next few weeks, we will begin to restore these functions through a series of over-the-air software updates." All other available Autopilot and FSD features will also be active at the time of delivery, depending on the order configuration. ”
