Sony officially released the PS iOS/Android app

IT House reported on Feb. 24 that users can now access and share action footage, images and clips from Sony's PlayStation 5 games. Sony is gradually allowing PS5 players to access screenshots and clips from PS apps on iOS and Android devices.

Sony first introduced the feature in specific regions such as Japan and Canada as early as last October. The company has been testing this feature, presumably to adjust the functionality and permissions required to access multimedia content from PS apps.

To start using the feature, PS5 users need to open it manually. This feature is available on the Screenshot tab of the Settings menu. Gamers will have to enable the Auto Upload setting. To start sharing on your iOS or Android device, go to the PS app and enable Screenshots under the Library option. In addition to clipping, the console will upload screenshots of all taken with the Create button or the Create menu shortcut. All uploaded content is available through the PS app.

Since this content can be accessed through the PS App, users can easily share it on social media platforms. Previously, PS5 had very limited sharing options. Players can only use a USB drive to transfer captured content to a computer. This feature overcomes limitations, but also has its own set of limitations.

Sony does not currently allow any clips recorded at high resolution. In other words, PS5 will not upload any clips recorded in 4K. In addition, the length of the clip will not exceed 3 minutes. There are no such restrictions on screenshots.

Sony's servers will erase all content older than 14 days. It seems that the time of expiration depends on the timestamp created. Due to the automatic upload feature enabled, the PS5 may upload clips to Sony's servers on the same day. Although the server will retain the clips and screenshots for 14 days, the locally stored content will remain on the PS5.

Sony chose the Americas as the first region to officially accept this new feature. Players in regions such as Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay should get the new feature this year, the company said.
